Who will win Ireland vs Jersey, T20 WCQ 2019?
In a game which could prove crucial for both European islands’ hopes of reaching the ICC T20 World Cup, Ireland meet Jersey in the Qualifier at Abu Dhabi’s Tolerance Oval. The match takes place on October 25 and is scheduled to start at 10:00 local time.
Both teams have won two and lost two so far, and come into this game on the back of a defeat. Ireland were chasing 157 to beat Canada, but could only reach 146/7 – failing to back up their big win against Oman as a result.
For Jersey, meanwhile, a surprise win against the UAE had put them in with a great chance of reaching the play-offs, but they failed to back it up against Hong Kong. The previously winless, but overall higher ranked, side set Jersey 145 to win, but the Channel Islanders could only reach 136/6.
That could be Jersey’s play-off hopes over, as they go into this fixture as big outsiders now.

Ireland Team News & Playing 11
IRE Team News
Andy Balbirnie slotted straight back into the team last time out, replacing Lorcan Tucker, but Gareth Delany retained his batting position after his heroics against Oman. Balbirnie was out first ball, but the batting line-up is likely to be retained again.
IRE Key Players
Kevin O’Brien: Out in the first over last time out, but his six-hitting record – the most maximums in T20 internationals in a calendar year – highlight how good he has been in the matches in which he has not fallen early.
Gareth Delany: Pushed up to number three after hammering 89* and taking 2-29 in the win against Oman. He hit a four and a six in a brief innings of 16 last time out, having taken another wicket with the ball.
Boyd Rankin: After taking 2-32 last time out, he is now just one wicket short of 50 in T20 internationals. The former England player now has four in this tournament, from four games.
IRE Team Form
Ireland have lacked consistency in this tournament, suffering defeats to the UAE and Canada in between wins against Hong Kong and Oman. Against the latter, they were in excellent form – Gareth Delany taking the lead with 89* and 2-29 in a 35-run win. But they failed to back it up – chasing 157 to beat Canada, the run rate got away from them as they lost wickets in the middle overs. They eventually posted 146/7.
Ireland Predicted Playing 11
Paul Stirling, Kevin O’Brien, Gareth Delany, Andy Balbirnie, Harry Tector, Gary Wilson (c, wk), Mark Adair, Stuart Thompson, George Dockrell, Boyd Rankin, David Delany
Jersey Team News & Playing 11
JER Team News
Elliot Miles replaced Anthony Hawkins-Kay last time out, and was much more economical despite Jersey’s defeat. Miles could retain his place this time out.
JER Key Players
Ben Stevens: Top all-round form from the left-hander so far, who hit 39 and took 2-26 last time out, to move to 83 runs and six wickets in the four games Jersey have played in this qualifier.
Benjamin Ward: The leg-spinner has six wickets in four games now, having taken 3-19 against Hong Kong last time out, while he starred with the bat in the win against the UAE when he hit 47 from 24 balls.
Harrison Carlyon: The teenage opener is forging a reputation already. He took 3-15 with the ball against the UAE, while he has made a solid start to life as a T20i batsman too.
JER Team Form
Jersey might have blown their chance to reach the play-offs of this competition. They had put themselves in with a fighting chance with a dominant, and surprising, win against the UAE – scoring 147 thanks to Benjamin Ward’s 47 before bowling the hosts out for 112 as Harry Carlyon and Ward each took three wickets.
But defeat to Hong Kong, having started so well while they were bowling too, could prove very costly. Hong Kong recovered to post 144/7 and Jersey could only reach 136/6 in reply.
Jersey Predicted Playing 11
Nick Ferraby, Harry Carlyon, Ben Stevens, Jonty Jenner, Nick Greenwood, Benjamin Ward, Corey Bisson, Dominic Blampied, Elliot Miles, Jake Dunford (wk), Charles Perchard (c)
