Toss Prediction

The Rose Bowl sports a good batting surface that has been producing some big first innings totals in recent times. Furthermore, since six of the last eight ODIs played at this ground have been won by the side that has batted first, the toss-winning team is more likely to bat first in this game.

England Team News & Playing 11

Team News

England will have to be without Ben Stokes and Alex Hales once again as the duo are unavailable for this game due to their ongoing enquiries related to the incident that happened in Bristol. Jason Roy and Sam Billings are likely to be retained in the side.

Key Players

Jason Roy replaced Alex Hales in the last game and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands, scoring a 66-ball 84 to take England off to a flying start in a big run-chase. He is a key figure in this lineup along with Joe Root and Moeen Ali who also have been amongst the runs in this series. With six wickets apiece, Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett are right there at the top of the wickets charts while Chris Woakes returned to his wicket-taking ways with a three-wicket haul in the last game.

Recent Form

England have been in ominous form in the 50-over format this year. The hosts have now won six of their last seven completed one-day internationals and they will be mighty pleased after having snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the last game.

England Predicted Playing 11

  • Eoin Morgan (c), Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Jos Buttler (wk), Sam Billings, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett, Jake Ball

West Indies Team News & Playing 11

Team News

Evin Lewis sustained a hairline fracture on his foot while batting in the last game and was forced to retire hurt. The opening batsman has therefore been ruled out of the fifth one-day international and he is likely to be replaced by either Kyle Hope or Sunil Ambris. Another setback for the West Indies is that skipper Jason Holder will miss this game due to a death in his family. Jason Mohammed will be taking over as captain while Carlos Brathwaite is going to be the likely replacement for Holder.

Key Players

With Evin Lewis and Jason Holder unavailable and Marlon Samuels out of form, the onus will be on Chris Gayle and Shai Hope to score the big runs. The latter hasn't been able to get going in this series at all and it will be crucial to the team's chances that he fires and provides a good platform for the following batsmen. Alzarri Joseph ran through England's batting lineup at London. The fast bowler claimed a five-fer in that game and the West Indies will be hoping for another top performance from him.

Recent Form

The defeat in the last game was West Indies' fourth straight loss in the 50-over format. They will be highly disappointed after the outcome of the fourth ODI as they did all the hard work of putting up a massive total in the first innings and they even had England on the backfoot at the start of their innings before rain brought bad luck for the tourists.

West Indies Predicted Playing 11

  • Jason Mohammed (c), Chris Gayle, Kyle Hope/Sunil Ambris, Shai Hope (wk), Marlon Samuels, Rovman Powell, Ashley Nurse, Jerome Taylor, Alzarri Joseph, Miguel Cummins, Carlos Brathwaite

England vs West Indies Head to Head

England have now beaten the West Indies in their previous eight ODI encounters. The latter last had a win over the former in 2014 back at home, winning that contest by 15 runs. England have faced the Windies just once at The Rose Bowl in this format of the game. That match was played in 2012 with the hosts emerging victorious by 114 runs.

England vs West Indies 5th ODI Betting Odds

England posted a mammoth score in the third ODI and then showed in the fourth game that they could chase down pretty much any target thrown at them. And they managed to win even in the absence of two of their in-form players in Stokes and Hales. The hosts yet again begin as firm favorites amongst the bookmakers to win the fifth ODI at very short odds of 1.25 with Betfair and 1.20 with Bet365. As for the West Indies, nothing seems to be going their way and so they are the underdogs for this game at 4.5 each with Betfair and Bet365.

England vs West Indies 5th ODI Prediction

There is no doubt that the West Indian team will be heart-broken after their loss in the fourth ODI even after being in a commanding position for the most part. And to make matters worse, they will be without their regular skipper Jason Holder in addition to having already lost their star of the last game Evin Lewis to injury. The visitors somehow need to put all of this behind them and with the series already decided and with nothing to lose, they can now look to express themselves more freely - which is something that might just work for them. England on the contrary will feel even more confident after their successful run chase which seemed improbable at one time. The hosts stand a good chance for a clean sweep and we predict them to do it come Friday.

Final Verdict: Back England to beat West Indies in the fifth ODI at 1.25 with Betfair and 1.20 with Bet365.
