Eastern Cape will take on Northern Cape at Buffalo Park, East London. Match 2 in Pool B of the CSA Provisional T20 Cup 2022/23 begins at 14:30 local time on Friday 30th September.

Eastern Cape

In spite of beating Limpopo by eight wickets in their opening match of the 2021 CSA Provincial T20 Cup, Eastern Cape went on to lose to Boland and Warriors and not qualify for the knockout stages. Scoring runs was never a problem but winning matches was an issue.

ECI Batting

With runs coming with ease last year, Eastern Cape produced a half-centurion in each match. Marco Marais made 65 runs from 35 balls in the first game, Jerry Nqolo hit 50 runs from 38 balls in the second before Clayton Bosch contributed 64 not out from 28 balls. All three players are back for the 2022 season.

ECI Bowling

Eastern Cape took 16 wickets across the three games last season but did not get a team more than six wickets down. Gideon Peters took 2-17 against Limpopo, Clayton Bosch took 3-37 against Boland with Thomas Kaber finishing with 2-30 against Warriors.

ECI Form

Ending the tournament with two successive defeats, Eastern Cape will be looking to repeat the start to last season when they won their first match.

Northern Cape

Northern Cape struggled in the 2021 tournament and picked up no wins in Group A. They were beaten by South Western Districts by 24 runs before a tie against Lions with the Lions going on to win the Super Over. Cape ended the season with a six wicket defeat against Western Province.

NC Batting

We saw two half-centuries for Northern Cape last year with Ernest Kemm making 83 not out from 55 balls against Lions and Evan Jones scoring 50 runs from 35 balls. Jones is not in the squad for this season but we expect Kemm to be the key wicket for the side again this year.

NC Bowling

Right-arm fast medium bowler Johan van Dyk was the key bowler for Northern Cape against South Western Districts and Lions. He took combined figures of 5-50 in those games and this pitch will be a good opportunity for him to show his skills on a tough pitch.

NC Form

With zero victories in 2021, Northern Cape will be looking forward to beginning this campaign with a clean slate.
