Dolphins are favourites to win
Dolphins will take on Western Province at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Match 23 of the CSA T20 Challenge gets underway at 14:30 local time on Saturday, October 29th.
Match 21 on Friday between Dolphins and Knights produced only 17.1 overs of action before rain took over. It means that Dolphins have now picked up 15 points from six games and, although in second place, trail Titans by seven runs at the top of the league.
Dolphins did not get an opportunity to bat against Knights on Friday which meant that Grant Roelofsen and Keegan Petersen were unable to add to their recent strong tally of runs. Roelofsen has a top score of 91 with an average of 55.60 in the tournament.
Nine wickets fell in Knights’ innings against Dolphins with all five of the bowlers used picking up at least one wicket. 34 year old spinner, JJ Smuts, took two wickets with 29 year old off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen returning figures of 2-28.
Dolphins are unbeaten across their last three games in the CSA T20 Challenge.
A 27 run victory over North West saw Western Province pick up their first win of the campaign and lifted them off the bottom of the table. They are now level with Lions in sixth place but 16 points behind Titans at the top of the CSA T20 Challenge.
Western Province posted 164-5 against North West with the opening pair of Gavin Kaplan and Daniel Smith putting on 93 runs from 10.1 overs. 20 year old left-hander, Daniel Smith, hit 69 from 46 balls with nine fours and three sixes in his innings.
Left arm medium fast bowler Nandre Burger took his second successive two wicket haul on Thursday with fellow opening bowler Dane Paterson returning figures of 2-28. Tshepo Moreki and Junaid Dawood both dismissed one batter each.
Western Province ended their losing streak with the win over North West on Thursday.
The match will be played at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Although it remains a good batting pitch, bowlers on all sides enjoyed the conditions in recent matches and it would not be a surprise to see 15+ wickets in this game.
