Cape Town Blitz Team News & Playing 11
CTZ Team News
Cape Town Blitz will miss the services of their pace bowler Anrich Nortje as he has been ruled out of the remainder of the Mzansi Super League due to an ankle injury. The team has added Highveld Lions left-arm fast bowler Nandre Burger in their squad as Nortje's replacement. Burger was given a game last time against Tshwane Spartans in place of Ferisco Adams and his impressive showing with the ball should earn him a spot in the playing eleven for this upcoming match.
CTZ Key Players
The opening pair of Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan is the key for Cape Town Blitz in terms of batting. Both are among the tournament's top three batsmen and scored 74 and 66 runs respectively in the reverse encounter against Jozi Stars. de Kock is coming on the back of a thundering 55-ball 108 against Tshwane Spartans and that knock will boost his confidence a lot. Asif Ali and skipper Farhaan Behardien will be crucial in the middle order. In the absence of Anrich Nortje, the Blitz will bank on the likes of Dale Steyn, Nandre Burger and Mohammad Nawaz to deliver the goods with the ball. Steyn has been their second-best bowler in the MSL with seven wickets in five matches while Nawaz was the standout performer in the last game against the Spartans with figures of 3-14 from three overs. The Stars will also be wary of newcomer Burger who is coming off a three-wicket haul in his very first game.
CTZ Recent Form
Cape Town Blitz are currently leading the MSL 2018 league standings with five wins, a loss and a washout from seven matches. After a five-wicket defeat to Paarl Rocks at the Boland Park and then sharing points with Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at Port Elizabeth, the Blitz returned to their winning ways as they thrashed Tshwane Spartans by 60 runs at Centurion in their last match. They have been very impressive with the bat and have three 170+ scores in their last four matches.
Cape Town Blitz Predicted Playing 11
Quinton de Kock (wk), Janneman Malan, Dawid Malan, Farhaan Behardien (c), Asif Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dale Steyn, Dane Piedt, Malusi Siboto, Nandre Burger
Jozi Stars Team News & Playing 11
JS Team News
Jozi Stars made a couple of tactical changes in their side for the previous game against Durban Heat. They dropped pacemen Duanne Olivier and Nono Pongolo and replaced them with left-arm seamer Beuran Hendricks and leg-spinner Eddie Leie. Both did a good job with the ball which means they are likely to be retained for this game against Cape Town Blitz. The Stars are coming off a huge win and so we don't expect them to tweak their line-up.
JS Key Players
Reeza Hendricks is currently leading the MSL 2018 runs charts with 267 runs which includes two centuries and a fifty. The opening batsman cracked an unbeaten 108 runs off 62 balls in the last game versus Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and he will look to put up another match-winning performance here. His partner Ryan Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen have also weighed in with vital contributions at the top of the order. The Stars will also expect their skipper Dane Vilas to come good with the bat. Kagiso Rabada, Beuran Hendricks and Simon Harmer have all picked eight wickets apiece in the tournament and they form the main threats in this bowling attack. Rabada took the game away from the Giants with his brilliant effort of 4-0-8-2 and he will be backed by his team for another strong performance. Dwaine Pretorius too was outstanding finishing with three wickets at an economy of 4.25 and he is another bowler who could cause problems for the Blitz.
JS Recent Form
A 62-run drubbing against Cape Town Blitz at Johannesburg followed by a four-wicket loss to Tshwane Spartans at Centurion had pushed Jozi Stars out of the top three in the MSL 2018 points table. But they have now reclaimed their third spot with back-to-back victories over Durban Heat and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants. Both of those wins were secured by big margins - 53 runs and 81 runs respectively. The stars now have three wins and as many losses from their six league encounters.
Jozi Stars Predicted Playing 11
Ryan Rickelton, Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Dane Vilas(c/wk), Daniel Christian, Petrus van Biljon, Simon Harmer, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Beuran Hendricks, Eddie Leie
