AUS vs WI 1st Test Match Prediction & Betting Tips

The series makes up part of the 2023 - 2025 World Test Championship which currently sees Australia at the top of the table with West Indies down in seventh. Read on as we preview this opening Test of the series. This match gets underway in Adelaide at 10:00 local time.
You have to go back to 2021 to find the last time that Australia lost a Test Match at home and they have been beaten by only India in Tests on home soil since 2016! David Warner’s retirement does leave a gap in their batting line-up but they will still put out a formidable side.
Any Test tour of Australia is hard for an opposing side but West Indies have arrived for this tour with new faces and a positive attitude. However, they will need a lot more than just that against this Australia Test team. We expect West Indies to battle hard but getting a win will be a very hard assignment.

The post-David Warner era for Australia in Test cricket begins with this match and there was plenty of debate over who would replace him at the top of the order. The selectors have chosen to push Steve Smith up to open alongside Usman Khawaja with Cameron Green coming in to bat at number four.
AUS Key Players
- Usman Khawaja - The left-handed opener will be looking forward to going out to bat with his new opening partner. He has already hit three scores in the forties and one of 90 in Tests this summer.
- Marnus Labuschagne - There have been some pundits who have been speculating over the right-hander’s place in the side but he loves to prove the sceptics wrong and he top scored in both innings in the last Test.
- Pat Cummins - The captain comes into this Test in brilliant form after taking three five-wicket hauls from his last four Test innings.
- Nathan Lyon - The 36 year old off-spinner returned to the Test side after injury for the Pakistan series and took 13 wickets over the three Tests.

Australia vs West Indies Betting Odds
Australia are overwhelming favourites to win this opening Test of the series. The hosts can be backed at 1.07 with West Indies all the way out at 21.00.
Who will win Australia vs West Indies 1st Test Match?
Although Australia beat Pakistan 3-0 earlier this summer, they were not quite as dominant as the series result would suggest. However, player for player, they have far more experience of Test cricket, not just in Australia, and we have the hosts as the top side.
🏆 Australia vs West Indies Prediction
There is plenty of excitement around this Test series with the lack of David Warner for Australia and West Indies arriving with talk of bringing pride back to their Test side. That said, most pundits would agree that none of the visitors players would get into Australia’s XI so it could still be a one-sided opening Test. We predict that West Indies will have some good moments but are backing Australia to win comfortably.
