Who will win Australia vs Sri Lanka, 1st T20 2019?
Australia begin their preparations for hosting next year’s ICC T20 World Cup with a three-game home series against Sri Lanka. The first T20i will take place at the Adelaide Oval on October 27, and the live action begins at 14:00 local time.
The hosts, for whom captain Aaron Finch is a fitness doubt, have not played any T20i cricket since they beat India in February. This series will mark Steve Smith and David Warner’s returns to the shortest format.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, beat Pakistan 3-0 earlier this month. The squad for that tour was much-changed due to security concerns but they are back to full strength now – though a couple of the stars of that series have retained their places.

AUS vs SL Toss Prediction
Sri Lanka batted first in each of their three games in Pakistan – twice by choice. The Adelaide Oval could demand a similar choice this time out.
AUS vs SL Weather Report
Though cool and cloudy through the day in Adelaide, the chance of rain is very low and conditions should generally be good for cricket.
AUS vs SL Pitch Condition
Even since switching to drop-in pitches, the Adelaide Oval has retained its reputation for producing batting wickets.

Australia Team News & Playing 11
AUS Team News
Aaron Finch is an injury doubt due to a side strain, though he has publicly stated his optimism that he will start the series. If he does not feature, Australia still have plenty of options in a strong 14-man squad, with Alex Carey the most likely to captain the team if Finch is not risked.
D’Arcy Short, the top run scorer at the Big Bash again last season, is a notable absentee but Steve Smith and David Warner are back in the squad. Marcus Stoinis has also been dropped.
AUS Key Players
Glenn Maxwell: The all-rounder helped Lancashire to the T20 Blast quarter-finals and will now look to build on his T20i averages of 34.40 with the bat and 27.07 with the ball. He has three T20i centuries to his name, including 113* in the most recent win against India in February.
Mitchell Starc: After 27 wickets in ten matches at the 50-over World Cup, the left-arm paceman will look to add to his 31 wickets in 23 T20i matches during this series as he returns to lead the Australian attack.
Aaron Finch: In superb form domestically, after hammering an unbeaten 188 in a one-day game for Victoria against Queensland. Australia will be keen to have the big-hitting opener available as he looks to add to his nine 50s and two centuries in T20i cricket.
AUS Team Form
Australia won their most recent T20i series against India in February. After drawing in Australia a couple of months earlier, the Aussies started by winning a low-scoring thriller – hitting 14 off the final over to chase 127 in a three-wicket win. Glenn Maxwell scored 56.
Maxwell was then in even better form in the second game. He hammered 113* from 55 balls as Australia reached 194/3 to seal a seven wicket win with three balls remaining. Maxwell hit seven fours and nine sixes in that innings.

Sri Lanka Team News & Playing 11
SL Team News
While they have Lasith Malinga, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and co back, Sri Lanka may keep faith with some of the lesser-known stars who impressed in Pakistan. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Oshada Fernado both impressed on their T20i debuts and it may be hard to drop them.
SL Key Players
Lasith Malinga: The Sri Lankan icon is back to captain the team in Australia. His most recent T20 international saw him claim those astonishing figures of 5-6 against New Zealand – moving past 100 T20 international wickets in his 76th game.
Oshada Fernando: Profited from the absence of senior players in Pakistan to make his debut in the final game, in which he scored an unbeaten 78. That earned him a place on this tour, and he top-scored in the warm-up game with 38 from 25 balls.
Nuwan Pradeep: In Malinga’s absence, the paceman was in superb form in Pakistan. He took 3-21 in his first match and then 4-25 in the second, before being rested for the final game of the series.
SL Team Form
Sri Lanka come into this series on the back of their success in Pakistan, despite the majority of their senior players having skipped the tour. Nuwan Pradeep was in excellent bowling form as they bowled the hosts out for 101 in the first match and 147 in the second. Bhanuka Rajapaksa had earlier hit 77 in the second game, as Sri Lanka posted 182.
In the final match of the series, with Pradeep rested, Oshada Fernando’s debut knock of 78* from 48 balls helped Sri Lanka to 147/7, and they restricted Pakistan to 134/6 in reply.
Sri Lanka Predicted Playing 11
Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Oshada Fernando, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Kusal Perera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Pradeep, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara
Australia vs Sri Lanka Head to Head
Sri Lanka have the edge in T20 internationals against Australia, winning eight of their 13 previous meetings. Most recently, Sri Lanka toured Australia in February 2017 and won the first two games of the series off the final ball. Asela Gunaratne was the man of the match both times for his all-round form. Australia won the most recent meeting, however – Aaron Finch hammering 53 from 32 balls in a total of 187/6 before Adam Zampa’s 3-25 from four overs helped bowl the tourists out for 146.
