Perth Scorchers are favorites to win
Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers meet at Allan Border Field, Brisbane, in WBBL|05 on October 27, with the match starting at 09:40 local time.
The Scorchers will hope for a repeat of their dominant win, inspired by Amy Jones and Meg Lanning, last time they played the Strikers. Their batting is arguably stronger now too, with the addition of Nat Sciver.
The Strikers have all-round strength, with Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates and Megan Schutt in their line-up, but they are undoubtedly weaker for the loss of Stafanie Taylor – who has left, as planned, to join the West Indies Women.

Both teams lost to Melbourne Renegades trying to defend a target, but with a batting wicket expected it might still be wise to bat first upon winning the toss.
A warm, sunny day awaits in Brisbane with temperatures kicking off in the mid-20s and a clear, completely dry day expected with very little wind around too.
Matches at the Allan Border Field tend to favour batting, with little in the way of assistance for bowlers on a generally flat wicket.

Adelaide Strikers have selected Lauren Winfield as their replacement for Stafanie Taylor, who they already knew would only be available at the start and end of WBBL|05 due to international commitments. The England player joins Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates on the overseas roster.
Sophie Devine: Started this year’s tournament in fine all-round form, scoring 72* and 48 in the two matches against Melbourne Renegades, before taking 1-16 and 2-32 with the ball.
Suzie Bates: Rekindling her excellent partnership with Sophie Devine at the top of the batting order, the world’s top-ranked WT20i batsman will be keen to get back to top form as quickly as possible.
Megan Schutt: The Strikers also boast the world’s number-one WT20i bowler too, and the Aussie pace bowler started with 2-13 and 1-27 in the two matches against the Renegades to prove her quality.
Adelaide Strikers won their first match against Melbourne Renegades, as Megan Scutt (2-13), Sophie Devine (1-16) and Stafanie Taylor (3-26) restricted the Renegades to 117/7. In reply, Devine smashed 72* from 45 balls in a six-wicket win.
The Renegades got their revenge in the second game, however. Devine hit 48 as the Strikers posted 152/5 but the ‘Gades got home with an over to spare to win by five wickets – despite Devine striking with her first ball on her way to figures of 2-32.
Their first match in this Brisbane double-header was against Hobart Hurricanes.

Perth Scorchers were the final team to get their WBBL|05 campaign and opted for a batting-heavy line-up as they lost their first game. New signing Kath Hempenstall, on her Big Bash return, is the most obvious to turn to if they bring in an extra bowler.
Nat Sciver: Finished the Kia Super League with an unbeaten half-century, got engaged to fellow England star Katherine Brunt and then started WBBL|05 with another unbeaten half-century. It’s not been a bad couple of months for the all-rounder.
Amy Jones: Scored an unbeaten 70 when these two teams last met and she was in good form at the start of this tournament too, hitting two fours and two sixes in a tidy 44 from 37 balls.
Heather Graham: The Perth bowler was the top wicket-taker in last season’s tournament and will be a key figure with the ball again this season.
Perth Scorchers started this season’s Women’s Big Bash League against Melbourne Renegades. Amy Jones (44) and Nat Sciver (55*) helped them to 132/5, but they fell to a four-wicket defeat with five balls to spare.
Their first of these back-to-back matches at the Allan Border Oval pitted the Scorchers against Brisbane Heat.

Adelaide Strikers have won five of their eight matches against Perth Scorchers, but the Scorchers won last time out as both teams traded wins last season. Amy Jones and Meg Lanning were both in fine form when these teams last met – each hitting an unbeaten 70 as they shared an unbroken 144-run partnership in a ten-wicket win. It was a vast improvement from the previous game, when Adelaide bowled Perth out for 108.

There were enough positives in Perth Scorchers’ start to the tournament to suggest they can overcome Adelaide Strikers, who do not have Stafanie Taylor for these fixtures.
Final Verdict: Back Perth Scorchers to beat Adelaide Strikers.
