Who will win WPL 2024

The Women's Premier League is back for the 2nd season after a successful inaugural season in 2023. The teams were reshuffled a little in the WPL 2024 auction which took place in December 2023. With new changes, the 5 franchise teams are back to face each other one more time in this competitive T20 league for women cricketers.

The 2024 edition of the WPL will be held across 2 venues. The first leg of the season, 11 matches, will take place in Bengaluru and the remaining 11 will be held in Delhi including the final on 17th March 2024.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians will face 2023 runners-up Delhi Capitals in the season opener match on 23rd February 2024.

Top Contender to win WPL 2024

After our analysis, we are backing Mumbai Indians Women to win the WPL trophy again in 2024. They were confident enough with their squad and did not make big changes in the WPL auction.

Their strength lies in their line-up of quality all-rounders right from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. She did not bowl in the first season but has 32 international wickets to her name in T20I.

England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt played a match-winning knock of 60 off 55 in the final match and won the player of the match award. She scored 332 runs and picked 10 wickets in 10 matches. She will be a key player for MI in the upcoming season. West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews won the Most Valuable Player award last season. She won the purple cap for taking 16 wickets and scored 271 runs at a strike rate of 126.04.

New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr was also impressive in the last season. She scored 149 runs at a strike rate of 133.03 and picked 15 wickets at an impressive average of 14.06.

The lethal combination of these all-rounders along with other remarkable talent like Yastika Bhatia, Issy Wong, Shabnim Ismail, Chloe Tryon, Pooja Vastrakar and Amandeep Kaur in the bowling and batting line-up are going to be a difficult side to beat.
