A feast of 50-overs cricket wherein 18 first-class counties featuring local and international players clash in an intriguing two-month long tournament, starting 5th Jun - 17th Sep 2016.
The Royal London One-Day Cup is a 50-over limited overs cricket tournament held in England and Wales. The tournament returns for its third edition this year with the first match scheduled to be played on June 5. The competition will stretch for over two months with the final match to played at the iconic Lord's on September 17.
Participating in this tournament are 18 first-class counties that are randomly divided into two equal groups of nine - the North Group and the South Group. After the end of the league stage, the top four teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages - the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and then the final.
- Derbyshire Falcons, Durham, Lancashire Lightning, Leicestershire Foxes, Northamptonshire Steelbacks, Nottinghamshire Outlaws, Warwickshire Bears, Worcestershire and Yorkshire Vikings.
- Essex Eagles, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Kent Spitfires, Middlesex, Somerset, Surrey and Sussex Sharks.
The tournament has seen two different winners in the previous two editions. While Durham won the inaugural edition in 2014, Gloucestershire lifted the trophy last year in 2015. Warwickshire Bears and Surrey finished as runners-up in the respective editions.
