Pakistan are favorites to win

Seven of the last ten completed one-day internationals (excluding the tied match between England and Sri Lanka in June 2016) played at the Trent Bridge have been won by the side batting second. Since the pitch at this ground tends to remain good for batting throughout the 100 overs, the team that wins the toss will probably bowl first.

Shannon Gabriel had left the field during the rain-affected warm-up game against South Africa after experiencing some discomfort in his knee. The pacer has been cleared of any major injury and is expected to be fit for this game. With Sheldon Cottrell and Kemar Roach likely to play, West Indies may have to choose between Shannon Gabriel and Oshane Thomas. Fabian Allen is unlikely to be included in the playing eleven which means Ashley Nurse will be the team’s lone spinner.
The opening pair of Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis along with Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Andre Russell are the big guns in this West Indian batting line-up. Lewis, Hope and Russell all scored big in the previous warm-up game against New Zealand. Shai Hope, in particular, was outstanding in his knock of 101. The top-order batsman is fourth in the ICC ODI batting rankings. The Windies will be expecting a strong start from Chris Gayle who has two half-centuries in his three ODI outings at the Trent Bridge. The Windies will have to bank on the likes of Sheldon Cottrell, Kemar Roach, Jason Holder and Shannon Gabriel (provided he plays) to do the job for them with the ball. Kemar Roach troubled the New Zealand batsmen last time, returning figures of 5-1-18-1, and he is more likely to finish with the best figures for his side against Pakistan. Cottrell, due to his ability to swing the ball, will be threatening in the first ten overs, especially if there is cloud cover.
West Indies have won four and lost five out of the nine completed one-day internationals they have played so far this year. They drew 2-2 with England earlier in the year in February before heading off to Ireland for a tri-series involving the hosts and Bangladesh. They won both their encounters against Ireland but lost to Bangladesh on all three occasions including the final. After their first warm-up game against South Africa ended in a washout, the Windies secured a thumping 91-run win over New Zealand at Bristol on Tuesday.

Pakistan have no injury worries going into this game against the West Indies. They have announced a 12-man squad for this match, leaving out Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hasnain and Shaheen Afridi. The vastly experienced Wahab Riaz has been preferred to Shaheen Afridi and he will be playing his first game since June 2017. The team's batting will be opened by Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman with Babar Azam coming in next at number three. Mohammad Hafeez will be batting in the middle-order that also consists of Asif Ali and skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. Pakistan are likely to go in with three seamers and include both Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan as their two spin options.
Pakistan have plenty of talented batsmen in their line-up but the spotlight will mainly be on their top three in Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman are both amongst the world's top ten ODI batsmen and the team will want them both to fire against the West Indies. Babar cracked a brilliant ton in the warm-up game against Afghanistan and he also has an ODI century at this ground. Mohammad Hafeez and Asif Ali will be Pakistan's biggest hopes with the bat in the middle order. Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz will make up the team's pace attack. Hasan Ali has been their most consistent performer with the ball in white-ball cricket in the recent past and he will be the biggest threat to the West Indian batsmen. Mohammad Amir has struggled to find his rhythm ever since making his comeback to international cricket, but it will be up to him to ensure a good start for his team with the ball.
Pakistan have not been faring too well in the game's fifty-over format. They have managed to win just 2 out of the 14 completed ODIs they have played this year. They have now lost their last 11 completed matches on the bounce which includes the three-wicket loss to Afghanistan in the first warm-up match at Bristol. Pakistan were a bit underwhelming with the bat in that game as they could manage to score only 262 on what seemed to be a very good batting surface. Their last warm-up game against Bangladesh had to be abandoned due to rain.
Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Asif Ali, Sarfaraz Ahmed (c/wk), Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz
West Indies and Pakistan have played 133 one-day internationals against each other with the former leading the scoreline 70-60. Three of those matches have ended in stalemates.
Pakistan have won seven of the last nine ODIs they have played against the Windies including the most recently played two. Pakistan registered a convincing six-wicket win when these two teams last faced each other in the 50-over format in April 2017 at the Providence, West Indies.
West Indies and Pakistan have never played an ODI against each other at the Trent Bridge.
Matches Played | WI Won | PAK Won | Tie | No Result |

Pakistan are favorites to win this second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at 1.80 with Betway, Bet365 and Betrally while West Indies are the underdogs at a higher price of 1.95 with Betway and 2 with Bet365 and Betrally.
West Indies and Pakistan have both struggled to win games in the 50-over format in recent times. The latter, however, have the upper hand in terms of head-to-head count; they have had better of the Windies seven times in their last nine ODI encounters against them. Pakistan emerged victorious 2-1 when these two teams last played an ODI series against each other in April 2017 in the West Indies.
The Windies do have a strong ODI record at the Trent Bridge having won five out of their six completed matches here while Pakistan have lost four of their last five matches played at this ground. Jason Holder and his men are being touted as the dark horses of this World Cup and they will be going into this game high on confidence after crushing New Zealand by 91 runs in their previous outing. But Pakistan are a better balance side and we feel that the scales are tipped slightly more in their favor.
