Who will win West Indies vs Ireland, 3rd T20 2020?
West Indies and Ireland conclude their T20i series as they look to beat the weather in Basseterre. The Irish lead 1-0 going into this third and final game, which takes place at Warner Park on January 19. The live action is scheduled to start at 18:00.
Rain forced a no result on Saturday at Basseterre, and more showers are on the forecast for Sunday too. It means Ireland’s opening win could prove the only completed game – Paul Stirling having starred with the bat, before Craig Young and Joshua Little sealed victory with the ball.
West Indies had been back to their best last time out, however – Kieron Pollard’s 4-25 led the way with the ball as Ireland posted 147/9 and that looked very gettable before rain curtailed the chase. If they can beat the weather, however, it will give the hosts confidence they can level the series too.

WI vs IRE Toss Prediction
Every single match on this tour so far has resulted in Ireland batting first, with the Irish winning the toss three times and the West Indies twice, including last time out. The hosts could well be happy to bowl first again.
WI vs IRE Weather Report
There was only a small chance of rain on the forecast for Saturday night, but once it fell it stuck around and that is the same on Sunday – showers are forecast all day, with the chance of rain during the evening around 35 per cent.
WI vs IRE Pitch Condition
There have been some big scores at Basseterre in the past, but the opening match showed there is a bit of everything in this wicket. A little bit of zip off the wicket may increase given the weather conditions.

West Indies Team News & Playing 11
WI Team News
Romario Shepherd replaced Kesrick Williams last time out, after the latter’s expensive return from his three overs in the opening game. The spinners took some punishment last time out, but West Indies may stick with the balance of this team, unless they want to give Brandon King and Rovman Powell some game time in the build-up to next year’s T20 World Cup.
WI Key Players
Evin Lewis: Scored one century and one 99* in the ODI series and then hit 53 from 29 balls in the first game of this T20i series to prove his excellent form at the top of the order.
Dwayne Bravo: Remains on 492 career wickets in T20 cricket but he bowled tidily to post figures of 0-18 from his three overs, having started the series with two wickets in the first game.
Kieron Pollard: The captain was back to his best with the ball last time out, posting figures of 4-25 from his four overs, while his big-hitting batting down the order remains a constant threat.
WI Team Form
West Indies were bidding to end a run of four consecutive T20i series defeats, but their defeat in the first game, when they could not quite chase 209 to win despite Evin Lewis’ half-century ensuring a good start, could prove costly given the weather forecast.
The hosts improved last time out, but only had time to face 13 balls as they pursued 148 to win the second match – Kieron Pollard having restricted the Irish by claiming 4-25 from his four overs.
West Indies Predicted Playing 11
Evin Lewis, Lendl Simmons, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Kieron Pollard (c), Shefane Rutherford, Dwayne Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Hayden Walsh Jr, Romario Shepherd, Khary Pierre
Ireland Team News & Playing 11
IRE Team News
Barry McCarthy retained his place last time out but only had time to bowl one ball. Mark Adair and Boyd Rankin are the two to have missed out with the ball so far and it remains to be seen if Ireland will stick or twist for this final match of the series.
IRE Key Players
Paul Stirling: A superb 95 from 47 balls set the tone for Ireland’s victory in the opening game, as he narrowly missed out on a first T20i century. He has now passed 50 on 17 occasions in T20 internationals. He also took a wicket in the last game.
Gareth Delany: The all-rounder, who suffered a difficult start to his ODI career, was back to his best in the shorter format last time out. He hammered five sixes on his way to 44 from 22 balls.
Craig Young: Showcased some superb death bowling in the opening game as he took 2-31, with his bowling in the 19th over turning this match in Ireland’s favour.
IRE Team Form
Fresh from qualifying for the ICC T20 World Cup, Ireland got the 20-over leg of this tour off to the perfect start as Paul Stirling (95 from 47 balls) and Kevin O’Brien (48 from 32) shared a 154-run opening partnership on the way to a total of 208/7. In reply, Joshua Little and Craig Young kept things tight at the death to seal a four-run win.
And the ‘luck of the Irish’ rang true last time out, as the rain curtailed West Indies’ innings after just 13 balls, with Ireland bidding to defend 147/9. It means they carry a 1-0 lead into this final game.
Ireland Predicted Playing 11
Paul Stirling, Kevin O’Brien, Andrew Balbirnie (c), Gareth Delany, Harry Tector, Gary Wilson (wk), Simi Singh, George Dockrell, Joshua Little, Craig Young, Boyd Rankin
