West Indies Team News & Playing 11
WI Team News
Andre Russell pulled up ahead of the second ODI and was replaced in the starting line-up by Keemo Paul. While Russell’s form would suggest he should return if fit, West Indies may elect to stick with their winning line-up.
WI Key Players
Shimron Hetmyer was West Indies’ star batsman in the previous game, following up his half-century in the first game with 125 from 93 balls last time out. That was his second ODI hundred in just 11 games, while he also hit a century in the two-day warm-up game against Bangladesh, representing the President’s XI.
hris Gayle and Evin Lewis are at the top of the order, meanwhile, and will hope to recapture the explosive form they showed while batting together in different T20 franchise competitions.
With the ball, Jason Holder bowled the crucial last over in the second ODI and has taken 18 wickets in his last ten ODIs. Economical bowling from Ashley Nurse (1-34 from ten overs) and Devandra Bishoo (1-39 from ten) was also vital. Bishoo took two wickets in the first game too.
WI Team Form
These are West Indies’ first ODI matches since sealing World Cup 2019 qualification at the qualifier in Harare. There, they beat the UAE, Papua New Guinea, Ireland and the Netherlands in the first group stage and sealed their progress despite a defeat to Afghanistan in the Super Sixes – bouncing back to beat the hosts and then win a rain-affected match against Scotland. With qualification assured they did lose the final to Afghanistan, however. Against Bangladesh, having won the test series in dominant fashion – including dismissing the hosts for 43 from 18.4 overs in the first test – West Indies lost the first game but bounced back to level up the series thanks to Jason Holder’s superb last over.
West Indies Predicted Playing 11
Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Mohammed, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Devandra Bishoo, Alzarri Joseph.
Bangladesh Team News & Playing 11
BAN Team News
Bangladesh have been unchanged in the first two ODIs and that is likely to be the case again for the series decider. That will mean Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque opening, with Shakib Al Hasan batting at number three.
BAN Key Players
Tamin Iqbal was in superb form as he hit 130* in the first match and he followed that up with 54 in the second ODI – taking him to ten ODI hundreds and 42 ODI 50s.

He was dismissed in the final over, however, as West Indies snatched victory. With the ball, Mashrafe Mortaza took 4-37 in the first game, from his full ten overs, to bowl Bangladesh to victory. He added his fifth wicket of the series last time out, claiming 1-44 from nine overs. Rubel Hossain’s 3-61 means he has 18 wickets in his last ten matches, meanwhile.
