West Indies excelled bowling first and, while it is a risk, their poor batting performance last time out could tempt Jason Holder to get first crack at the Taunton pitch.

West Indies Team News & Playing 11

WI Team News

Andre Russell’s injury struggles continue, twice showing visible signs of suffering against England. Captain Jason Holder insists West Indies will be doing all they can to keep their box-office all-rounder fit. Evin Lewis’ struggles, meanwhile, centre around his form – Darren Bravo could be recalled to replace him.

On the bowling front, West Indies opted for an extra paceman against England with Ashley Nurse missing out. Though he took two wickets last time out, Shannon Gabriel could miss out with Nurse or Fabian Allen stepping up.

WI Key Players

Shai Hope was Bangladesh’s nemesis during the Ireland Tri-Nation Series – during his superb run of form, he hit 109, 87 and 74 in his three games against the Tigers. He has not hit the same heights at this tournament but averages 49.72 in ODI cricket nevertheless.

Nicholas Pooran has been in better batting form, cementing that with a mature 63 against England. He also hit 34* and 40 in his previous two matches.

Shimron Hetmyer showed glimpses of his best form too, on his way to 39, while Chris Gayle remains one of the most feared opening batsmen in one-day cricket – if he can hit his stride.

All of the West Indian pace bowlers have showed signs of the hostile bowling they can produce too. Oshane Thomas took four wickets in the opening game, while Sheldon Cottrell took two apiece against Australia and South Africa. Jason Holder and, when fit, Andre Russell remain dangermen with the ball too.

WI Team Form

West Indies opened the World Cup 2019 in fine style, bowling Pakistan out for 105 to win the opening game by seven wickets.

They have not managed to back that up yet, however. Their bowlers impressed again as they bowled Australia out for 288 – though it could have been even better. They were made to rue the late Australian runs too, as West Indies could only post 273/9.

Sheldon Cottrell took two early wickets to reduce South Africa to 29/2 but rain intervened, before West Indies lost to England last time out. The Men in Maroon fell to 212 all out and lost by eight wickets.

West Indies Predicted Playing 11

Chris Gayle, Shai Hope (wk), Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Jason Holder (c), Carlos Brathwaite, Fabian Allen, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas

Bangladesh Team News & Playing 11

BAN Team News

Bangladesh have stuck with the same team for all three matches so far, with Liton Das perhaps unlucky to have missed out at the top of the order. Das, Abu Jayed, Sabbir Rahman and Rubel Hossain are the men to have missed out and the Tigers will have to consider changes if they do not end their losing run.

BAN Key Players

Shakib Al Hasan has led the way with the bat so far, scoring 75, 64 and 121 in his three matches at this tournament so far. The all-rounder’s slow-left-arm bowling has also claimed three wickets.

Only one other batsman has passed 50 in this tournament for Bangladesh – Mushfiqur Rahim, who has hit 141 runs in total. Rahim also top-scored for the Tigers in the final Ireland Tri-Nation Series group game against West Indies.

Soumya Sarkar hit a half-century in that match too, as he did in Bangladesh’s other two matches against West Indies too. He scored 106 and 208* in his two previous matches in the domestic one-day competition too.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz has taken five wickets so far, meanwhile, and Mohammad Saifuddin has six – though the former has been much more economical. Mustafizur Rahman, man of the match when these two teams last met, has four so far.

BAN Team Form

Bangladesh announced themselves on this tournament by winning their first game against South Africa, posting 330/6 on their way to way to a 21-run win.

Their second game, against New Zealand, saw them bowled out for 244 and lose by two wickets, however.

Hosts England were next up and, after being asked to chase 387 to win, the Tigers only managed 280 all out. Their most recent game, against Sri Lanka, was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Bangladesh Predicted Playing 11

Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Mossadek Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Mustafizur Rahman
