West Indies vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI Prediction & Betting Tips
West Indies have already secured the series and will be looking to go one better than in the T20i series when they won the three match series 2-1. Can West Indies make it 3-0 and make it a clean sweep? Read on as we preview the final game in this ODI series between West Indies and Sri Lanka. The match will be played in Antigua and will get underway at 09:30 local time.
West Indies’ victories in the series so far have been built on tight bowling followed by strong opening partnerships from Evin Lewis and Shai Hope. Both Lewis and Hope have centuries to their names and we won’t be surprised if they put on another big partnership for the first wicket.
The bowlers for West Indies have been sharing the wickets around with Jason Mohammed leading the charge with five dismissals so far. We also saw the unusual dismissal of ‘Obstructing The Field’ in the first ODI, perhaps we will see a batsman ‘Timed Out’ or ‘Hitting The Ball Twice’.
Sri Lanka’s side has been weakened by Angelo Mathews returning home ahead of the second ODI, but Danushka Gunathilaka continues to bat strongly. He followed up his 55 in the first ODI with a run-a-ball 96 on Friday.
West Indies came into this series on the back of six successive defeats in this format, a record which stretches back to February 2020 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. For the visitors, they need to go back to May 2019 to find their last ODI victory, not including the 2019 World Cup, away from home, when they beat Scotland in Edinburgh.
In both games in this series, the West Indies batsmen have chased a total successfully, it will be interesting to see how they get on if they have to set the pace and bat first. The depth of their batting was shown in Friday’s game with Fabian Allen coming in at number six and hitting a seven ball 15.
Sri Lanka need Gunathilaka or one of the other batsmen to make a century and give their bowlers a larger total to defend. Wanindu Hasaranga has impressed with the ball in both games and we expect to see him contribute strongly again.
Overall, we are backing West Indies to take the series 3-0.

West Indies Team News & Playing 11
WI Team News
With the series secured, West Indies could be tempted to ring the changes after picking the same XI for the first two ODIs. However, don’t expect them to tamper with their opening partnership of Lewis and Hope who have built two excellent foundations so far.
WI Key Players
- Shai Hope - at the top of the order, Shai Hope is a magician when it comes to ODI cricket. He sits in joint seventh on the all time West Indies ODI centurion list and currently averages a ton more often than every eight matches. In this series alone he already has 194 runs.
- Kieron Pollard - leads the team with his imposing frame and manner. Perhaps this influenced the decision of the TV umpire to give Gunathilaka out ‘Obstructing The Field’ in the first ODI. If the team needs someone to make things happen, Pollard is the man.
- Jason Mohammed - is sitting proudly at the top of the wickets column for the ‘Men in Maroon’ so far in this series. His 5 wickets have cost 11.8 runs a piece.
WI Team Form
Two successive victories for West Indies have been extremely welcome after their previous six successive defeats in the format. As ever, things are never quiet in West Indies cricket, Jason Holder the Test captain was sacked from his position on Thursday evening but still played in the ODI on Friday!
West Indies Predicted Playing 11
Evin Lewis, Shai Hope (wk), Darren Bravo, Jason Mohammed, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard (c) , Jason Holder, Fabian Allen, Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein
Sri Lanka Team News & Playing 11
SL Team News
Although they weren’t completely outplayed in the last ODI, Sri Lanka will be disappointed with the tour so far. With the series already gone and this being the final white ball game of the tour, they may use it to give some more fringe players a run out.
SL Key Players
- Dimuth Karunaratne - although he failed in Friday’s ODI, the captain plays an important role at the top of the order alongside Danushka Gunathilaka. Indeed, at 105 without loss inside 20 overs in the first ODI, Sri Lanka were looking like having a strong series.
- Danushka Gunathilaka - he has been Mr Consistent in the series so far and has been supported by separate players in each game but needs a group to come with him in the final match. It would be great to see him register his third ODI century after coming so close with 96 in the last game.
- Wanindu Hasaranga - although he has gone wicketless he is clearly the bowler who the West Indies batsmen are most wary of. In the first ODI his 10 overs went for only 26, although they were more comfortable against him in the second ODI, taking him for 48 runs.
SL Team Form
After losing the T20I series 2-1, Sri Lanka will be desperate to also register a consolation win in this series ahead of the Test matches.
Sri Lanka Predicted Playing 11
Dimuth Karunaratne (c) , Danushka Gunathilaka, Pathum Nissanka, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Oshada Fernando, Ashen Bandara, Thisara Perera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Lakshan Sandakan, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Pradeep.

🏆 West Indies vs Sri Lanka Prediction
West Indies only got over the finish line with three balls to spare in the second ODI so you could make a case that Sri Lanka are getting closer. However, with the batting abilities throughout the West Indies side we still think they have got another level to show off. Sri Lanka’s best opportunity may be to ask West Indies to bat first and see how they fare with a different type of pressure. We back the hosts to win and take the series 3-0.
