West Indies had a good game against Ireland in the first ODI and beat them by 24 runs. The win will be pleasing as they were in a spot of bother at the start and were reeling at 64-4. However, a century stand between Shamarh Brooks and Kieron Pollard took them to a position of safety. Runs from Pollard is a massive boost to the team. Also, Brooks had a terrific start to the ODI career. One concern though will be the form of Nicholas Pooran who looked completely out of touch. West Indies need him to be back in his elements as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, for Ireland, they were good for the most part of the game but didn’t quite capitalise on the crunch moments. The partnership between Brooks and Pollard took the game away. Other than that partnership, they were on par with West Indies. A little more effort will make up for a great game.
