Warriors appear to have ten of their 11 starting places locked out, while Sithembile Langa replaced Thomas Kaber last time out for the win against Lions. Langa bowled well in his first appearance of the season and could retain his place ahead of Kaber – who has been in and out of the team this year – to face Dolphins.
Marco Marais went into the last match as Warriors’ form batsman, having bludgeoned an unbeaten 82 from 33 balls and then 75 from 36 balls in his previous two innings. Such was Warriors’ dominance, however, they did not need him.
Instead, Matthew Breetzke found his rhythm with 72 not out from 45 balls at the top of the order, and Gihahn Cloete hit 54 to regain the form he showed in the first couple of games. Cloete was previous Warriors’ top batsman in their first two matches.
With the ball, meanwhile, Sithembile Langa (1-19) and JJ Smuts (1-22) were both economical, while Lutho Sipamla’s wicket was his fifth of the season. Sisanda Magala now has four, meanwhile.
Warriors have completed four of their eight scheduled games so far, but they have won three of those – including the last two – to climb up the table.
First, Marco Marais smashed 75 from 36 balls in a total of 189 against Cape Cobras, and Warriors held on for a ten-run win – avenging defeat to the same opponents in their previous completed match.
Then, after an abandoned game against Titans, Warriors were in dominant form against Lions. After restricting them to 144/6, Matthew Breetzke (72*) and Gihahn Cloete (54) led the chase with a century partnership to lead Warriors to a nine-wicket win with 33 balls remaining.

Dolphins have had their last two matches rained off, but Andile Phehlukwayo was available for their last completed game and the World Cup-bound already could continue. In fact ,despite an eight-wicket defeat in that game, it could be an unchanged Dolphins team for this match of CSA T20 Challenge 2019. That would mean Lwandiswa Zuma and Eathan Bosch missing out.
Dolphins are bolstered by their all-rounders, with Andile Phehlukwayo hammering 31 from 19 balls in his previous appearance and taking seven wickets across his last two T20i matches for South Africa too.
Robbie Frylinck is the other, having excelled in the Bangladesh Premier League this season. He hit 26 from 15 last time out and is late hitting became renowned in the BPL. He will now look to get back among the wickets too.
Prenelan Subrayen leads the bowling attack with them, meanwhile, taking 2-28 last time out to move to six wickets in total.
Their top batsmen last time out were Cody Chetty, who hit 56 from 36 balls, and Morne van Wyk, who scored 55 at the top of the order. Van Wyk hit a half-century when these teams last played too.
Dolphins have still not won since their first game of the season, suffering three defeats and four rained-off matches since. Their last completed game was against Titans, when they posted 185/4 thanks to Cody Chetty and Morne Van Wyk’s half-centuries, but crashed to an eight-wicket defeat.
They have had two abandoned matches since, while their previous game was rained off too. Previously, their most recent game was an eight-run loss to Cape Cobras – finishing on 144/5 in reply to 152/6.
Sarel Erwee, Morne van Wyk (wk), Cody Chetty, Khaya Zondo (c), Marques Ackerman, Sibonelo Makhanya, Robbie Frylinck, Andile Phehlukwayo, Prenelan Subrayen, Keshav Maharaj, Daryn Dupavillon
This season’s previous meeting between these two sides was rained off, as was one of their matches last season. Warriors won the only game that was completed to move to 12 wins in 21 previous meetings with Dolphins. Dolphins have won six of the other seven completed games, with one tie. Their most recent meeting saw Christiaan Jonker scored 59 from 36 balls as Warriors posted 153/8. In reply, Morne van Wyk hit 57 and there was some late hitting from Robbie Frylinck, but Dolphins finished just one run short on 152/7.
