Who Will Win Vancouver Knights vs Winnipeg Hawks Final, Global T20 Canada 2019?
The 2019 Global T20 Canada final pits defending champions Vancouver Knights against Winnipeg Hawks. The match, at Brampton’s batsman-friendly CAA Centre, takes place on August 11 and the live action begins at 14:00 local time.
The Knights finished second in the group stage but, despite losing Chris Gayle to international duty, they come into the final on the back of consecutive wins against Brampton Wolves. Daniel Sams has claimed seven wickets across those two games, while Saad bin Zafar was man of the match in the qualifier with 4-22.
Winnipeg beat Brampton to get to this match too, having been fortunate with the weather to get this far. In-form JP Duminy led them to victory with the bat in both play-offs, and they do have one moral advantage ahead of the final – they are the only team to have beaten Vancouver this season.

VCK vs WPH Toss Prediction
Winnipeg Hawks won the toss and elected to field first when they last met Vancouver Knights. The pitch favours batting, however, so there may be less advantage to winning the toss. The Knights, nevertheless, are due this one.
VCK vs WPH Weather Report
A sunny afternoon, with temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s, awaits for the final of the second edition of the Global T20 Canada.
VCK vs WPH Pitch Condition
Throughout the tournament, the Brampton pitch has been excellent. Even when the sandy outfield has ‘burst’ upon impact, the pitch has persevered – the bounce is true, the wicket is flat and the batsmen should thrive once again.

Vancouver Knights Team News & Playing 11
VCK Team News
Rassie van der Dussen returned to Ontario to fill in for Chris Gayle’s absence last time out. The other ten players were retained and Vancouver are likely to go into this final with the same 11 that won the qualifier. That includes Andre Russell, playing as a batsman only due to his fitness issues.
VCK Key Players
Daniel Sams: The Australian all-rounder has been in outstanding bowling form in the two wins against Brampton Wolves. Sams took 4-25 in the first match and 3-29 in the second.
Rassie van der Dussen: The South African returned last time out and showed more good form with 25 from 19 balls. The batsman has continued his excellent 15 months with scores of 65*, 39, 56 and 25 in his four innings in Ontario.
Shoaib Malik: The Pakistani veteran has hit form at a good time, helping to cover the loss of Gayle. He is yet to be dismissed in this year’s tournament, scoring 34*, 41* and 46* in his last four innings.
VCK Team Form
Vancouver Knights won three of their four completed games during the group stage to finish second. They finished their round one fixtures by beating Brampton Wolves, bowling them out for 138 after Daniel Sams’ 4-25, before they claimed an eight-wicket win.
The Knights then posted 170/4 in the first qualifier, in an innings reduced to 16 overs. DLS corrected that score to 180, but it was circumstantial anyway – Saad bin Zafar’s 4-22 and three more wickets for Daniel Sams saw them bowl Brampton out for 103.

The decision to select Dwayne Smith over Umar Akmal paid off in the second qualifier for Winnipeg Hawks as the West Indian hit two vital sixes in the penultimate over to help the Hawks to victory. Paul van Meekeren replaced Varun Sehdev, meanwhile.
WPH Key Players
Chris Lynn: The Australian’s first game of the tournament was against the Knights, when he scored 74, and he then added 89 in the following game. He has scored 89 across his last three innings too, ensuring the Hawks have started their innings in good form.
JP Duminy: Scored an unbeaten 77 when these teams last met and his recent form has been brilliant too – scoring 48* in the final group game and then 85* and 50* in the two play-offs to help Winnipeg to victory.
Kaleem Sana: After a quiet start to the tournament, the left-arm paceman has taken four wickets in the two play-off games. He took 2-25 last time out, including 15 dot balls, which proved vital in the end.
WPH Team Form
Defeats to Brampton Wolves and Edmonton Royals put Winnipeg Hawks on the brink of missing the play-offs, only for their second round match against Vancouver to be rained off – enough to put them through.
Rain rescued them again in the play-offs, when they were 201/5 after 17.1 overs in reply to Toronto Nationals’ 238/5. Though facing a difficult chase, even with JP Duminy unbeaten on 85, the DLS par score when the rain came was 200.
The Hawks took full advantage of that reprieve, however, and beat Brampton to book their place in this final of Global Canada T20 2019. Chasing 201 to win, JP Duminy (50*) hit the winning run off the final ball.
