Vancouver Knights Team News & Playing 11

VCK Team News

Kemau Leverock replaced Steven Jacobs for Vancouver Knights' most-recent win, who himself had replaced Jeremy Gordon after their opening-day defeat to Toronto. The other ten players have played all three matches so far, with Sheldon Cottrell bouncing back from the punishment his bowling received against Toronto's big-hatting batsmen to secure his place in the team.

VCK Key Players

Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis make a formidable opening partnership, having come together at the top of the innings for the West Indies and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots too. Gayle has been quiet with the bat lately, but Lewis hit 96 on the opening day of the Global T20 Canada, to follow scores of 58 in his most recent West Indies' appearance and 48 as he signed off from his IPL stint with Mumbai Indians.

Rassie van der Duthen was the man to shine with the bat last time out, however, following up scores of 25 and 39 not out against Toronto and Winnipeg, respectively, with 83 not out from 56 balls. Having been dismissed just once, he currently averages 147 in the tournament.

With the ball, Fawad Ahmed, Tim Southee and Sheldon Cottrell have all taken five wickets from the first three games. Cottrell took 3-28 and Ahmed 3-33 in the six-wicket win against Winnipeg Hawks, while Southee claimed 3-20 in the 18-run defeat of Montreal Tigers last time out.

VCK Team Form

Vancouver Knights lost their opening game despite posting 227/4 - inspired by Evin Lewis' 55-ball 96 - against Toronto Nationals. The Nationals won by six wickets with four balls to spare.

Vancouver's bowlers bounced back against Winnipeg Hawks, however, with three wickets apiece for Sheldon Cottrell and Fawad Ahmed. Babar Hayat then hit 65 from 33 balls in a six-wicket win with 14 balls to spare.

They then beat Montreal Tigers after Rassie van der Duthen hit 83 not out from 56 balls as they posted 166/6, before restricting the Tigers to 148 all out. They could not build on their form last time out, however, when rain caused their match against Edmonton Royals to be called off without a ball bowled.

CWI B Team News & Playing 11

CWIB Team News

Derval Green replaced Jeremiah Louis last time out, and after taking 1-9 from three overs opening the bowling, he is likely to retain his place. He had initially been dropped after conceding 26 from his solitary opener against Montreal Tigers.

With the team purely West Indian-based, the CWI B Team squad is the smallest in this year's competition. Alick Athanaze and Roland Cato are awaiting their first appearances.

CWIB Key Players

Nicholas Pooran, the only player in the squad with previous international experience, was the star man in the opening game with 58 runs from 35 balls to earn the man of the match award, though that was a little harsh on Brandon King - who hit 56 from 32. Fabian Allen then performed heroics with the bat against Edmonton, with a stunning, counter-attacking 75 from 30 balls - including eight sixes - to turn the game after they were 66-6 when he arrived at the crease.

Last time out, Justin Greaves hit 89 from 58 balls and King 44 from 43 balls in a nine-wicket win against Winnipeg Hawks, with 13 balls to spare.

Their star man has been left-arm paceman Obed McCoy, however. He has taken ten wickets in three games - more than any other player so far - after figures of 3-31, 4-22 and 3-39 from his ten overs so far.

CWIB Team Form

The CWI B Team have won all three matches so far. Three wickets apiece for Obed McCoy and Jeremiah Louis, followed by half-centuries from Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King, helped them to a two-wicket win in pursuit of Montreal's 183/9 in their first game.

Next up, against Edmonton, they were 66/6 in reply to the Royals' 155 all out (McCoy 4-22) before Fabian Allen's stunning counter-attacking turned the game as he smashed 75 not out from 30 balls.

McCoy took another three wickets as Winnipeg Hawks were restricted to 151/8 from their 20 overs in their most recent game, and Justin Greaves' 89 not out fired them to a nine-wicket win with 13 balls to spare.

They will play Toronto Nationals on Saturday before the fixture against Vancouver the following day.

🏆 Vancouver Knights vs CWI B Prediction

The CWI B Team have been in superb form so far, despite their lack of experience, with some brilliant all-round performances. Vancouver have also played well, but the CWI B Team have showed it would be dangerous to back against them.

Final Verdict: Back the CWI B Team to beat Vancouver Knights
