Toronto Nationals are favorites to win
Toronto Nationals and Winnipeg Hawks bid to keep their 2019 Global T20 Canada campaign alive when they meet in the first eliminator of this year’s play-offs. The match takes place on August 8 and the live action starts at 16:30 local time.
The Nationals come into the game in great form, after winning their final two matches to climb up the table on their way to a third-placed finish. Rodrigo Thomas and Heinrich Klaasen hit good batting form to push them into the top four.
The Hawks, on the other hand, limped into this fixture – two consecutive defeats spared only by the rain forcing their match against Vancouver to be abandoned. That put them through to the play-offs on net run rate.

Toronto Nationals were asked to bat first last time out but did so to winning effect. The Nationals may ask to bat first on this occasion.
Storms are forecast earlier in the day and much will depend on if they hit Brampton and, if they do, whether the outfield can be mopped up quickly enough. The conditions for this game should be fairer if it does go ahead.
Toronto and Winnipeg will have second crack at the wicket following the first qualifier play-off, but the pitch has shown good consistency so far – and remains a good one for batting on.

Captain Yuvraj Singh was injured last time out, after suffering a back injury in the final game of the first round. Manpreet Gony replaced him last time out. Brendon McCullum, who has announced he will retire after GT20 Canada 2019 tournament, was not part of the team – Chirag Suri’s form at the top of the order has kept the New Zealander out.
Rodrigo Thomas: Scored 65 when these teams last met and hit his second half-century of the tournament last time out. He now has 218 runs in the tournament after hitting five fours and five sixes in his 56-ball 70.
Heinrich Klaasen: Two runs ahead of Thomas on 220 after claiming the man of the match award last time out. He hit an unbeaten 64 from 34 balls. The South African’s runs have come at a strike rate of 154.92.
Chris Green: Reached the ten-wicket mark last time out when he claimed 3-26 in the win against Montreal. He is also the most economical bowler of the Nationals’ side so far – having gone at 7.68 runs per over.
Toronto Nationals qualified for the play-offs with two wins in a row against Montreal Tigers. Narrow defeats against Winnipeg and Brampton – despite scoring more than 200 in each – had left them in danger of missing the play-offs.
The Nationals restricted Montreal to 136/9 and won by four wickets in their final round-one game, however, before their batsmen took charge in their round two fixture. Rodrigo Thomas (70) and Heinrich Klaasen (64*) helped them to 189/5, before Chris Green (3-26) and Mitchell McClenaghan (3-27) restricted the Tigers to 154 all out.

Chris Lynn: The Australian has scored 202 runs in four innings so far, including his top score of 89 to lead the Hawks to victory when they last met Toronto. Lynn’s runs have come at a strike rate of 194.23.
JP Duminy: The South African is one of the few of his compatriots to have played the full group stage. He scored an unbeaten 48 last time out to get back to his best batting form and now has 164 runs in five innings.
Dwayne Bravo: Missed the last match but the iconic West Indian all-rounder has six wickets so far and has also hit some decent blows with the ball too.
Winnipeg lost their last two matches, falling short against Brampton Wolves and Edmonton Royals and nearly missing out on the play-offs as a result. They were all out for just 116 against Brampton, on their way to a seven-wicket defeat, and then could not defend 195/6 against Edmonton. Shaiman Anwar top scored in both matches for the Hawks.
