Wicket-keeper

There are some good choices behind the stumps, with Glenn Phillips having been a key player for Jamaica Tallawahs last season and Chadwick Walton a useful addition. Denesh Ramdin led the Knight Riders’ recovery in their opening game, meanwhile. Any of the three would represent a good choice if they hit top form, though Phillips and Walton tend to be more explosive than Ramdin.

Batsmen

Chris Gayle is unsurprisingly expensive but his form has been good and he is a huge signing for the Tallawahs this season. Kieron Pollard was Trinbago Knight Riders’ top scorer last time out and also bowled two overs. He is a good all-round option despite being listed as a batsman only. With Colin Munro away, Lendl Simmons will get another chance to prove his worth too and Tion Webster is a cheaper option to balance the big West Indian stars’ price-tags.

All-rounders

Unsurprisingly, Andre Russell has a big price tag attached to his name but his all-round potential makes him well worth it. Sunil Narine may prove a little too expensive at ten credits alongside both Russell and Gayle, however. There are other good options though – Jimmy Neesham being the most obvious after his man-of-the-match performance against the Patriots first up. Even further down the pricing scale, George Worker could prove to be a canny addition for the Tallawahs.

Bowlers

Port of Spain has favoured the pace bowlers recently, which makes Oshane Thomas at 8.5 credits and Mohammad Hasnain – who took three wickets last time out – at the same price both excellent value. Javon Scantlebury-Searles is just eight credits, which is another good means of balancing the cost of the likes of Gayle, Pollard and Russell. If you have kept credits back, however, Khary Pierre was another in the wickets in the opening game and Jerome Taylor and Steven Jacobs could be key to the Tallawahs’ attack with Thomas.

Captain/Vice-captain

Andre Russell starred in this exact fixture last season and looked back to his best with his heroics in the Global T20 Canada final – though the Vancouver Knights ultimately lost in a super over despite his efforts. With the potential for big runs and lots of wickets, he is an obvious pick for captain. Jimmy Neesham contributed with bat and ball last time out, and his all-round capability makes him a slightly safer vice-captain choice than Chris Gayle who, for all his batting heroics, is equally capable of suffering a long, drawn-out low score if he is dismissed before hitting the turbo button.
