Who will win Trinbago Knight Riders vs Barbados Tridents, CPL 2019?
Trinbago Knight Riders can seal second place and a place in the qualifier, rather than the eliminator, if they beat Barbados Tridents at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, in the Caribbean Premier League. The match takes place on October 2 and the live action is scheduled to begin at 19:00 local time.
The Knight Riders won their first four games in a row but have not won since – a run which includes a heavy defeat to the Tridents in Bridgetown. Nevertheless, a win in this game will ensure they get up to two shots at reaching the final as they bid to defend their Caribbean Premier League title.
Barbados Tridents are already assured of a play-off place too and need to win to stand any chance of playing in the qualifier themselves. Victory will lift them into second place, but the Knight Riders will still have a game in hand. Nevertheless, with Hayden Walsh Jr in superb bowling form, an away win could still be on the cards.

TKR vs BT Toss Prediction
Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss at home for the first time last time out. The law of averages still suggests they should be winning this one too, and they may elect to bat first after losing fielding first last time out.
TKR vs BT Weather Report
Trinidad will once again be hot all day with any chance of rain almost all gone by the time this game starts in the evening. Temperatures should still be in the high 20s, possibly 30s, in the evening.
TKR vs BT Pitch Condition
The pitch at the Queen’s Park Oval has leaned slightly towards the batsmen – a good, consistent bounce means there are runs to be had, particularly when combined with the lightning fast outfield.

Trinbago Knight Riders Team News & Playing 11
TKR Team News
Chris Jordan slotted straight into the starting line-up last time out, having been called up as a replacement for Mohammad Hasnain. Javon Searles and Mark Deyal also came into the team, with Sunil Narine absent. Searles should retain his place after taking three wickets. Narine has been suffering a recurrence of his finger injury, leaving Khary Pierre to be the Knight Riders’ main spinner.
TKR Key Players
Lendl Simmons: The big-hitting opener has hit 288 runs so far, including three dominant half-centuries earlier in the CPL 2019 tournament – form he will be keen to get back to as he looks to add to his 46 T20 half-centuries and one hundred.
Kieron Pollard: The Knight Riders’ captain smashed 71 from 38 balls last time out, including eight fours and three sixes, and boasts a T20 strike rate of more than 150. He has bowled regularly again (after occasionally being used as a specialist batsmen only in previous tournaments) this season, taking six wickets in the last six games.
Khary Pierre: Has slipped under the radar a little, but Narine’s injury worries have pushed him to the front of the queue and he has relished his more pronounced role – taking five wickets in the last four games, including 2-24 against the Tridents.
TKR Team Form
After winning their first four games, Trinbago Knight Riders are without a win in four matches since – though one of those was a washout. They were bowled out for 129 last time they faced the Tridents, suffering a 63-run defeat, and that was followed by their 19-run loss to Guyana Amazon Warriors last time out.
Javon Searles took three wickets in that game but the Warriors still posted 185/6 and some late Kieron Pollard hitting was not enough – he scored 71 from 38 balls, but the Knight Riders could only reach 166/5.

Barbados Tridents Team News & Playing 11
BT Team News
Though forced into some reshuffles due to international call-ups, Barbados Tridents have still managed to put a strong line-up together. Shakib-al-Hasan and Harry Gurney have come into the team, though Dan Christian has not played. Shai Hope is due back for the play-offs but this game could be too soon, so it could be an unchanged team from the win against St Lucia. The question then will be whether the Tridents revert to the top-order that dominated against the Knight Riders when they last met.
BT Key Players
Shakib-al-Hasan: Straight into his groove after being added to the Tridents’ squad, taking 1-14 and 1-20 in his two matches with the ball, and hitting 60 runs too. The Bangladeshi superstar has now taken 352 T20 wickets in 298 innings and he is closing in on 5,000 runs scored too.
Harry Gurney: Seven wickets in four games so far, including 3-17 against the Zouks last time out, have continued his incredible rise through the T20 ranks. He was in superb bowling form at the T20 Blast too most recently.
Hayden Walsh Jr: The American paceman skipped the USA’s first ODI series to play in this tournament but the decision has been justified given he has 15 wickets in five games. That includes 4-26 last time out and 5-19 when the Tridents last played the Knight Riders.
BT Team Form
Barbados Tridents sealed a play-off place with two wins in their last three games. The first of those was their dominant win against the Knight Riders – JP Duminy, Johnson Charles and Jonathan Carter all in outstanding batting form in a total of 192/5 before Hayden Walsh claimed 5-19 with the ball.
The Tridents lost their next game – blowing a chase of 150 to beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots when they only managed two runs from the final four balls to finish 148 all out.
But they bounced back last time out. Walsh was in excellent bowling form again as, defending 141/6, the Tridents skittled St Lucia Zouks for 117. Walsh took 4-26 and Gurney 3-17.
Barbados Tridents Predicted Playing 11

- TKR to Win the Match: Trinbago Knight Riders are 1.66 favourites to win with Bet365.
- TKR Top Batsman: Colin Munro is 3.60 favourite to be Trinbago Knight Riders though it is a dangerous tactic to ignore Lendl Simmons at 4.00 with Bet365 and in-form Kieron Pollard – who top-scored down the order last time out – at 6.50. Darren Bravo was back to some of his best form last time out too and he can be backed at 5.00.

In his place, Khary Pierre has stepped up with the ball and he is 5.00 to be their top bowler instead. Chris Jordan is 4.33 after his late arrival, while Ali Khan can be backed at 4.50. - BT to Win the Match: Barbados Tridents are 2.20 to beat Trinbago Knight Riders with Bet365.
- BT Top Batsman: Johnson Charles has hit some good form with the bat and is 4.33 joint-favourite to be the Tridents’ top batsman with Bet365. Alex Hales is the same price but his form has been poor this season. Shakib-al-Hasan is 4.50, having been batting at three, and he could be a good price. JP Duminy – who top-scored when these teams last met – is 5.50 with Bet365, while Jonathan Carter, who was pushed up the order for that game, is 9.00.
- BT Top Bowler: Shakib is 4.00 to be the Tridents’ top bowler too, having taken wickets in each of his two games so far. The form bowlers, however, are Harry Gurney and Hayden Walsh Jr. Gurney can be backed at 4.33 with Bet365, while Walsh is an extremely generous 5.00 considering his 15 wickets in five games, and five-fer when these teams last met.
