Tasmania vs CAXI Match Prediction

Ryan Gibson and William Bosisto form the backbone of CAXI's top-order batting while Sam Harper will be an important batsman in the middle order. Gibson started his season off with a solid hundred against Queensland while Harper chipped in with a fine 41 towards the end. But it is Bosisto who stands a good chance of top-scoring in this match. The skipper played an invaluable knock of 86 and he had also made a fifty against Tasmania last year.

David Grant will be spearheading the pace department for CAXI and the team will want him to strike early and put Tasmania on the back foot. The medium pacer finished with decent figures of 2 for 44 against Queensland and we expect him to give a similar bowling performance in the next game. Spin options include Matthew Short and Arjun Nair. Offspinner Nair who took two wickets will have a bigger role to play in the middle overs.

Our Prediction

Cricket Australia XI is the most recent addition to the Matador BBQS One-Day Cup. This is only their second season which means that they have far less experience of playing in the tournament than Tasmania who have been playing since the inaugural edition in 1969.

However, when these two sides faced off last year at Sydney, the match went down to the wire with CAXI edging out Tasmania by three runs. Though it was a narrow victory, it was a victory nevertheless and this will give the former a psychological advantage ahead of this match. But overall performance is where Tasmania acquires a big lead. While CAXI finished at the bottom of the pool last year, Tasmania have bagged four titles and have finished as runners-up four times in the past.

Although Cricket Australia XI are a talented unit and are very much capable of winning games, we feel that former champions Tasmania are better placed to win this fourth match of the Matador BBQS One-Day Cup 2016.
