Brisbane Heat Women are favorites to win

Who will win Sydney Thunder vs Brisbane Heat, WBBL 2019?

In-form defending champions Brisbane Heat take on out-of-form Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League. The match, at the Drummoyne Oval, takes place on November 16 and is scheduled to start at 19:10 local time.

The Heat are bidding for a fourth consecutive win, which will lift them back to the top of the WBBL table. Beth Mooney’s superb batting form has seen them claim three dominant wins in their last three games to reignite their title defence.

Sydney Thunder have gone the opposite way, with their loss to Sydney Sixers last time out their third defeat in a row. Chasing 153 to win, they collapsed to 47/5 from 11.3 overs and eventually lost by 40 runs.

SYTW vs BRHW Toss Prediction

Sydney Thunder are due to lose a toss, having won the last four and elected to field first on every occasion. Brisbane Heat might want to bowl first this time out, given the conditions.

SYTW vs BRHW Weather Report

A cloudy Sydney evening, with temperatures in the high teens, will mark much cooler conditions than Friday’s match but with the chance of rain as low as nine per cent there should be no disruption. The overcast conditions could suit the pace bowlers.

SYTW vs BRHW Pitch Condition

The Drummoyne Oval wicket looked to favour the pace bowlers last time out, though a fast wicket also benefits the big hitters.

Sydney Thunder Women Team News & Playing 11

SYTW Team News

Rachael Haynes is back after a foot infection and teenager Phoebe Litchfield also returned after school exam commitments. Tahlia Wilson kept her place last time out, however, with Naomi Stalenberg making way instead.

SYTW Key Players

Alex Blackwell: A rare dip in form in the last two games, but 232 runs so far shows how important she has been in the middle order – a tally which includes her vital 42* when these teams last met.

Shabnim Ismail: Bowled economically again last time out, bowling 13 dot balls. She has eight wickets in this year’s tournament too to prove her quality with the ball.

Rachel Priest: The New Zealand wicket-keeper-batsman scored 31 when these teams last met and had looked to hit form when she hit 45 and 50 in consecutive innings. After three low scores in the last three games, she will be keen to bounce back.

SYTW Team Form

Sydney Thunder have lost their last three matches in a row. They could only reach 144/6 in reply to 151/5 in their first game against Perth Scorchers and were then bowled out for 105 in a low-scoring second match, needing just 117 to win. Last time out, at the Drummoyne Oval, they were set 153 to beat Sydney Sixers but collapsed to 47/5 from 11.3 overs. They eventually lost by 40 runs.

SYTW vs BRHW Dream11 Prediction

Wicket-keeper

Beth Mooney costs 11 credits but her form so far makes even that a bargain. She has scored five half-centuries, reaching 70 on three occasions and leading Brisbane’s resurgent form. She is a must-pick, though it probably means Rachel Priest is too big a gamble at 9.5 credits alongside her.

Batsmen

So how do you balance the outlay needed to select Mooney? Two batsmen stand out for that, Maddy Green for the Heat – she is 8.5 credits and hit a half-century last time out – and Phoebe Litchfield for the Thunder, given she scored a half-century when these teams last met. To round off the batting, Alex Blackwell has been in top form for the Thunder too and will be keen to get back to that.

All-rounders

Jess Jonassen has also been central to Brisbane Heat’s upturn in form and is hard to ignore, even at ten credits. She has shone with bat and ball in recent matches having been promoted to number three in the order. There are several good all-round picks, including Nida Dar and Hannah Darlington for the Thunder, and Sammy-Jo Johnson and Grace Harris for the Heat. Johnson has a bigger bowling impact for the Heat. Dar, at 9.5 credits, might be too expensive.

Bowlers

Delissa Kimmince and Shabnim Ismail have hit top form for their respective teams, justifying their nine credit pricetags. Amelia Kerr has been inconsistent and may be too big a risk at the same cost. In her place, Rene Farrell has amassed 324 points at 8.5 credits for the Thunder and Georgia Prestwidge could be set to return for the Heat.

Captain/Vice-captain

Beth Mooney’s form is hard to ignore. She is in outstanding batting form and has been central to Brisbane Heat’s winning streak. Jess Jonassen is key with bat and ball, meanwhile, and has also hit top form of late. She is worth considering for at least vice-captain too.

Brisbane Heat Women Team News & Playing 11

BRHW Team News

Courtney Sippel came into the team last time out, with Georgia Prestwidge dropping out. Sippel bowled one over on her WBBL debut and Prestwidge could return this time out. Brisbane Heat have otherwise been very consistent with their starting line-up.

BRHW Key Players

Beth Mooney: Her unbeaten 70 from 60 balls last time out was her fifth half-century of this year’s tournament as she passed 400 runs for the fifth consecutive season.

Jess Jonassen: Followed up some economical bowling with an unbeaten 37 from 26 balls with the bat. Her all-round form has been good, with useful runs and tight bowling too.

Delissa Kimmince: The Australian international has got back to her best in recent matches, taking six wickets in the last three games – including 3-27 against Melbourne Stars last time out.

BRHW Team Form

Brisbane Heat now have three consecutive wins, with Beth Mooney’s form central to that. She scored 77* from 51 balls in a nine-wicket win against Adelaide Strikers to start this winning run and added 70* in a nine-wicket defeat of Melbourne Stars last time out. In between, Jess Jonassen took 2-20 and scored 33 in a seven-wicket win against Sydney Sixers.
