Who will win Sydney Sixers vs Hobart Hurricanes, WBBL 2019?
Sydney Sixers’ first Women’s Big Bash League match without injured captain and star all-rounder Ellyse Perry is against Hobart Hurricanes at the North Sydney Oval. The match takes place on November 20 and will start at 17:30 local time.
Perry injured her shoulder in the defeat to Melbourne Renegades last time out – just their third loss in nine games this season – and the Sixers are looking to bounce back from that defeat against a struggling Hobart side.
Hobart Hurricanes won their first two matches but have lost six in a row since, with a further match abandoned due to rain in among that run. Their most recent defeat was against the Sixers when they were bowled out for 133 chasing 173 to win.

SYSW Team News
Ellyse Perry will be out until after the group stages have finished – if Sydney Sixers progress further. Alyssa Healy will take over the captaincy. Perry’s place could be taken by Dane van Niekerk, if the leg-spinning all-rounder recovers sufficiently from the freak injury she suffered – slicing her hand while cutting an avocado at home. If so, either Ashleigh Gardner or Erin Burns will be promoted to open.
SYSW Key Players
Alyssa Healy: Fell cheaply last time out but she hit 39 when these teams last met and, with an unbeaten century to her name in this year’s tournament too, the opener has 287 runs in this year’s tournament.
Marizanne Kapp: Promoted up the under after wife Dane van Niekerk’s freak injury, Kapp smashed an unbeaten 52. She is better known for her bowling, however, and has nine wickets so far.
Dane van Niekerk: With Perry ruled out, the pressure will be on to get back from her freak injury. It does not affect her bowling hand, so she will be keen to add to her eight wickets so far.
SYSW Team Form
Sydney slipped to a rare defeat last time out – just their third of the tournament in nine matches so far. They had previously won five from six, with Ellyse Perry in fine form in back-to-back wins against Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder. Last time out, she was less fluent – scoring 39 from 45 balls – and it took Marizanne Kapp’s unbeaten 52 to lift them to 139/4 against Melbourne Renegades. They were on the brink of defending it too, but a last-ball six saw them slip to a two-wicket defeat.

Erin Fazackerley and Nicola Carey opened the batting last time these teams met, with Fran Wilson and Meg Phillips dropping into the middle order. The Hurricanes have been unable to end their poor run of results, however. They will now be without wicket-keeper Emily Smith too, after she posted team news on her Instagram feed before it was in the public knowledge – earning a year’s ban, with three months suspended. Teenager Emma Manix-Greeves has been signed as her replacement player.
HBHW Key Players
Heather Knight: The England captain has hit two half-centuries on her way to 229 runs so far, while she has also picked up four wickets with her off-spin bowling too.
Nicola Carey: Expensive last time these teams met, but she did break the opening partnership. She now has eight wickets in the tournament and 155 runs too.
Tayla Vlaeminck: The highly-rated 21-year-old was the most economical of the Hurricanes’ bowlers last time out and she has five wickets in the tournament too.
HBHW Team Form
Hobart Hurricanes have lost their last six matches, having started the tournament with two wins. Most recent was their other fixture against the Sixers. Set 173 to win, they never got close – eventually falling to 133 all out. They will have had a week’s break before this re-match.
