Sylhet Sixers Team News & Playing 11

SYS Team News

David Warner suffered an elbow injury in the win against Rangpur Riders and has had to return home. Andre Fletcher is likely to return in Warner's place.

Jaker Ali made his T20 debut in the win against Rangpur Riders as Sylhet Sixers rang the changes after their heavy defeat to Comilla Victorians. Andre Fletcher, Al-Amin Hossain and Nabil Samad all made way, with Ali, Sandeep Lamichhane and Mehedi Hasan Rana in. Sabbir Rahman was promoted to open the batting and the changes paid off in a 27-run victory.

SYS Key Players

Liton Das finally found his best form against the Rangpur Riders, opening the batting with 70 from 43 balls, and sharing partnerships of 73 with Sabbir Rahman (20) and 56 with David Warner (61*). Captain Warner’s 36-ball knock was his second half-century of the tournament and takes him to 141 runs in total, and the injured Australian will be sorely missed.

That is still 50 runs short of team-mate and star man Nicolas Pooran, however, who moved to 191 for the tournament with a breezy 26 from 16 balls. He previously hit 41, 52* and 72 in the three matches in Dhaka – the latter in the Sixers’ most recent match-up with the Dynamites.

After missing the defeat to Comilla Victorians, meanwhile, Sandeep Lamichhane was back to his best against Rangpur Riders. He took 1-18 from his four overs, while Sohail Tanvir’s 1-22 takes him to three wickets in three matches and an economy rate of just 4.81 runs per over.

Taskin Ahmed is their leading wicket-taker, meanwhile. He took 4-28 against Chittagong Vikings and 3-38 when these teams last met. He took 2-34 in the win against Rangpur Riders last time out.

SYS Team Form

Sylhet Sixers won one of their three matches in Dhaka, but got off to the worst start in Sylhet when Comilla Victorians bowled them out for just 68. The Victorians - who also beat the Sixers in Dhaka - took just 11.1 overs to claim an eight-wicket win.

Liton Das (70) and David Warner (61*) led a resurgent batting performance against Rangpur Riders, however, as they posted 187/5 on their way to a 27-run victory.

Dhaka Dynamites Team News & Playing 11

DD Team News

Shuvagata Hom was replaced by Asif Hasan in the only change last time out and may return to face the Sixers. The batting failure was a rarity and it would be a surprise if the Dynamites made any knee-jerk reactions.

DD Key Players

Hazratullah Zazai will want to get back to his best batting form, having scored 78 in the win against Rajshahi Kings first time around and then 57 as the Dynamites beat Khulna Titans in their second game. The big-hitting Afghanistani opener has already excelled in the Afghanistan Premier League in recent months.

Rony Talukdar was top scorer when the teams last met in Dhaka, scoring 58 in the Dynamites’ comfortable win. He and Kieron Pollard – who smashed 62 from 26 balls against Rangpur Riders – are the other Dhaka batsman to hit half-centuries, while Andre Russell and Sunil Narine have made useful contributions too.

Narine has also weighed in with eight wickets, and an economy rate of 6.62 runs per over, including 3-19 from his four overs last time out. Al Islam, who took a hat-trick on his T20 debut against the Riders, has six wickets and an economy rate of 5.75 from his three matches so far.

Shakib Al Hasan has eight wickets too, meanwhile, and the Dhaka Dynamites’ captain remains one of the most dangerous all-rounders in the tournament on his day.

DD Team Form

After four wins in four in the first phase of fixtures in Dhaka, the Dynamites lost for the first time in their first fixture in Sylhet. In Dhaka, they posted 189/5 in an 83-run win against Rajshahi Kings and 192/6 as they thrashed Khulna Titans by 105 runs.

They just held on defending 183/9 against Rangpur Riders, after Al Islam’s debut hat-trick and figures of 4-26 swung the match their way – the Riders finishing on 181/9. Victory against Sylhet Sixers then followed, after Rony Talukdar’s half-century in a total of 173/7 – the Sixers finishing 32 runs short.

Dhaka’s second set of fixtures started with defeat, however, despite Sunil Narine’s 3-19 helping them restrict Rajshahi Kings to 136/6. They were never able to get up with the required rate in reply and finished on 116/9 from their 20 overs.

Dhaka Dynamites Predicted Playing 11
