SYT vs PRS T20 Prediction & Betting Tips, BBL 2020

Sydney Thunder will look to build on their excellent chase against Brisbane Heat last time out as they look for a second win of the 2020-21 Big Bash League season. The two teams meet at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on December 22 and the live action starts at 19:15 local time.

The Thunder lost their opening game, reaching just 147/9 in reply to Melbourne Stars’ 169/8. They recovered in style last time out, however, as Daniel Sams smashed 65* from 25 balls to get them over the line, chasing 179 to win in just 18.5 overs to beat Brisbane Heat by four wickets.

Perth Scorchers, meanwhile, struggled to 130 all out in their opening loss to Melbourne Renegades but had showed improvement in hitting 158/6 in 17 overs. Rain ruined the reply, however, to ensure the game finished as a no result extending their Big Bash winless streak to four matches.

Sydney Thunder Team News & Playing 11

SYT Team News

Alex Hales and Callum Ferguson were out for ducks last time but it seems unlikely the Thunder will be making sweeping changes to their batting line-up. It is more likely Daniel Sams will be pushed up the batting order.

SYT Key Players

  • Daniel Sams: Took two wickets in each of the two games so far, but it was his stunning batting that stood out last time out – smashing 65* from 25 balls, including seven sixes.
  • Alex Hales: Once he starts scoring runs again, the big-hitting Englishman will be a huge asset at the top of the order.
  • Usman Khawaja: His extended availability due to his Australia snub is an unexpected bonus for the Thunder and bolsters their batting.

SYT Team Form

Sydney Thunder fell short chasing in their first game, against Melbourne Stars, but they turned it around last time out. Daniel Sams’ stunning batting assault at the end of the innings lifted them from a poor batting start to a four-wicket win, as he smashed 65* from 25 balls. The Thunder reached 180/6 in 18.5 overs, replying to 178/6.

Perth Scorchers Team News & Playing 11

PRS Team News

While rain meant it ended in disappointment, Perth Scorchers did show improvement last time out and could stick with the team that started the game against Melbourne Stars.

PRS Key Players

  • Colin Munro: Showed what he is capable of when he starts to fire, hitting 49 from 36 balls at the top of the batting order.
  • Ashton Turner: Capable of some huge hits down the order, he hammered five sixes on his way to 39 from 17 balls last time out in BBL 2020.
  • Jhye Richardson: Took a tidy 2-20 in the opening game and the claimed a wicket with his only ball last time out too.

PRS Team Form

Perth Scorchers folded for just 130 on their way to a convincing seven-wicket defeat to Melbourne Renegades first up. They then posted 158/6 in 17 overs in an improved display against Melbourne Stars but rain stopped the already shortened reply just seven balls in and the match finished with no result.

Perth Scorchers Predicted Playing 11

Josh Inglis (wk), Colin Munro, Joe Clarke, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Turner (c), Cameron Bancroft, Aaron Hardie, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Joel Paris, Fawad Ahmed

Sydney Thunder vs Perth Scorchers Team Form in Last Five Matches

SYT vs PRS Head to Head

After a win apiece last season, both wining their respective games by convincing margins, Perth Scorchers now have six wins to Sydney Thunder’s five in this fixture. The Thunder had previously won three in a row, however. Josh Inglis (58) and Liam Livingstone (78) led the batting as the Scorchers ended their winning streak by hitting 154/2 in 15.3 overs, but they failed to make the same impact in the rain-affected second game and it was Alex Hales who led the Thunder to a seven-wicket win.

Sydney Thunder vs Perth Scorchers Betting Odds

Sydney Thunder may be in the better form, but the bookmakers have boldly listed them as outsiders for this one.

Sydney Thunder Bet365 Odds

  • SYT to win: Sydney Thunder are surprisingly 2.10 outsiders for this game with Bet365.
  • SYT top team batsman: Alex Hales and Usman Khawaja will open the batting for Sydney Thunder and both can be backed at 3.40 to be their top team batsman with Bet365. Callum Ferguson, the captain, is 4.50 with Bet365 while Daniel Sams is 17.00 after his lower-order onslaught last time out.
  • SYT top team bowler: Sams is also in good bowling form and he is 3.50 to be the Thunder’s top team bowler with Bet365. Chris Green is 4.50, as is Tanveer Sangha, while Jonathan Cook can be backed at 5.00.

Perth Scorchers Bet365 Odds

  • PRS to win: Perth Scorchers are 1.72 favourites with Bet365.
  • PRS top team batsman: After finding form at the top of the order last time out, Colin Munro is 3.60 to be Perth Scorchers’ top team batsman. Josh Inglis is 4.50, as is Joe Clarke – the latter having also found form last time out. Likewise, Ashton Turner was back to his big-hitting best down the order and he is 6.00 with Bet365.
  • PRS top team bowler: Jhye Richardson can be backed at 3.75 to be Perth Scorchers’ top team bowler with Bet365 after a strong start to this tournament. Big Bash veterans Andrew Tye and Fawad Ahmed can be backed at 3.75 and 4.00 respectively.

Sydney Thunder vs Perth Scorchers Prediction

Sydney Thunder to beat Perth Scorchers at 2.10 with Bet365 and 2.10 with Betway.

SYT vs PRS Dream11 Prediction

  • Wicket-keeper(s)

Josh Inglis is 8.5 credits and, given he will be at the top of the batting order, he looks a good pick ahead of Baz Holt.

  • Batsmen

Alex Hales is yet to hit his best form but he starred in this fixture twice last season. He is ten credits, while Colin Munro is 9.5 credits. Ashton Turner found form down the order last time out and he is nine credits, while Joe Clarke is 8.5 credits after his six-hitting form in the most recent game. Callum Ferguson, the Thunder captain, could also be a good pick at nine credits.

  • All-rounders

The all-rounder pick seems a straight-forward one. Daniel Sams smashed 65 runs with the bat last time out and already has four wickets in two games too.

  • Bowlers

Jhye Richardson has started in good bowling form, with three wickets so far, and at nine credits he looks an excellent pick with the ball. Jonathan Cook and Chris Green have showed enough form so far, meanwhile, leaving one space for either Andrew Tye or Fawad Ahmed. You will be picking on reputation more than form, but either deserves picking if they get back to their best.

  • Captain/vice-captain

Daniel Sams, like Ashton Turner, deliver big blows down the order but the fact they are down the order makes selecting them as captain a big gamble. Sams could be worth it, however, as he is also in good bowling form. Jhye Richardson is bowling well too, and that could be your captain-vice combination.

SYT vs PRS Dream11 Team Prediction

  • Batsmen:Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Ashton Tuner, Joe Clarke, Callum Ferguson

  • All Rounder:Daniel Sams (c)

  • Wicket Keeper:Josh Inglis

  • Bowler:Jhye Richardson (vc), Jonathan Cook, Chris Green, Fawad Ahmed
