SYS vs PRS Final Prediction & Betting Tips, BBL 2020-21

Defending champions Sydney Sixers will bid to make it consecutive Big Bash League titles when they take on Perth Scorchers in the 2020-21 Final at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The two teams – who finished first and second during the group phase – meet in the showpiece on February 6 and the live action starts at 19:40 local time.

Sydney Sixers finished top of the table in the league phase and then thrashed Perth Scorchers in the Qualifier play-off. James Vince smashed 98* from 53 balls and may have reached his century had Andrew Tye not bowled a wide with the Sixers needing just one to win. The Sixers chased 168 to win in just 17 overs, in a comprehensive nine-wicket thrashing.

Perth Scorchers bounced back in the Challenger, however. Liam Livingstone hammered 77 from 39 balls as they posted 189/1 against Brisbane Heat. Aaron Hardie then claimed three wickets, albeit having been expensive, as they secured a comfortable 49-run win on the DLS method.

SYS vs PRS Toss Prediction

Perth may have regretted batting first last time they faced the Sixers but they were excellent last time out and could choose to bat first once more.

Weather Report

As with last year’s final, there will be nervous glances at the clouds throughout – the forecast is for showers and scattered thunderstorms with a 45 per cent chance of rain in the evening.

Pitch Condition

Judging by the test match against India, the Sydney Cricket Ground is hard and good for batting – albeit with some green patches.

Sydney Sixers Team News & Playing 11

SYS Team News

Jackson Bird retained his place ahead of Jake Ball last time out and was tidier with the ball on that occasion. After such a dominant win, Sydney Sixers could be unchanged for the Final.

SYS Key Players

  • Jordan Silk: Was not needed with the bat last time out, having previously smashed 155 runs in his three previous innings.
  • Sean Abbott: Although he was expensive last time out, he still claimed his fifth wicket in three matches since returning to the team last time out.
  • James Vince: The opening batsman smashed 98* from 53 balls, hitting 14 fours and a six, and deserved the century he was cruelly robbed by Andrew Tye’s wide last time out.

SYS Team Form

Sydney Sixers got back to winning ways in the final match of the league phase, as Dan Christian’s superb late innings – hitting 49* from 23 balls – helped them win by five wickets with one ball to spare against Melbourne Stars. They then thrashed Perth Scorchers last time out – requiring just 17 overs to chase 168 in a nine-wicket win in which James Vince hammered 98* from just 53 balls.

Perth Scorchers Team News & Playing 11

PRS Team News

Big-hitting England opener Jason Roy could miss the BBL Final, as he did the Challenger play-off. Cameron Bancroft was excellent in his place, hitting 58 in a superb opening partnership, so the Scorchers could stick with that line-up should Roy miss out in BBL 2020-21 Final.

PRS Key Players

  • Liam Livingstone: in the absence of Jason Roy, the big-hitting Englishman smashed 77 from 39 balls – including five fours and six sixes. He hit 67 when these teams met in the group stage too.
  • Jason Behrendorff: Has stepped up his bowling form to lead the way, taking 2-19 last time out to move to 90 wickets in 78 matches.
  • Jhye Richardson: His bowling form has dipped at the worst moment but he still remains top of the wicket-taking charts with 27 from 16 matches.

PRS Team Form

Perth Scorchers seemed to have lost form at the most inopportune moment, first dropping off top spot when they lost by six runs to Brisbane Heat and then suffered a nine-wicket thrashing at the hands of the Sixers in the Qualifier. It left them in last chance saloon for a place in the final, but they won the Challenger in style – Liam Livingstone leading the way with the bat in a rain-curtailed total of 189/1 in 18.1 overs that proved enough for a 40-run victory on the DLS method.

Perth Scorchers Predicted Playing 11

Cameron Bancroft, Liam Livingstone, Colin Munro, Josh Inglis (wk), Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Turner (c), Aaron Hardie, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Fawad Ahmed

Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers Prediction

Final Verdict

Sydney Sixers to beat Perth Scorchers at 1.90 with Bet365 and also 1.90 with Betway.

SYS vs PRS Dream11 Prediction

  • Wicket Keeper

Josh Philippe and Josh Inglis are both top batting options, as Inglis proved with his innings when these teams last met. They are 9.5 and nine credits respectively and both worth selecting at those prices.

  • Batsmen

James Vince’s superb knock last time out means he is hard to ignore at nine credits. Mitchell Marsh and Jordan Silk have both been in top form in their most recent innings, meanwhile. All three are great options but, should he play, Jason Roy is worth looking at too – perhaps instead of one of the wicket-keepers.

  • All rounder

Dan Christian thrives in T20 finals, having had plenty of experience of them, and at 9.5 credits he could prove a key player in this match too. Liam Livingstone, meanwhile, is nine credits after his excellent innings last time out.

  • Bowlers

Jhye Richardson is ten credits and while his bowling form has dipped of late, he remains the top wicket-taker in the tournament so far. Jason Behrendorff is 8.5 credits, meanwhile, and found some good bowling form of late. Andrew Tye is also 8.5 credits and he has a point to prove after the controversial wide he bowled that ended the last game and left James Vince stranded short of his century. Sean Abbott is another of the 8.5-credit options, and he has been in wicket-taking form since coming into the Sixers team.

  • Captain /Vice Captain

Liam Livingstone’s runs last time out and the fact he could bowl too means he is a good option for captain. He was in form in one of the league matches against the Sixers too. Jhye Richardson was a good option for vice-captain given his wicket-taking form, but with that having dropped of late, Sean Abbott could be a better pick.

SYS vs PRS Dream11 Team Prediction

  • Batsmen:James Vince, Mitchell Marsh, Jordan Silk

  • All Rounder:Liam Livingstone (c), Dan Christian

  • Wicket Keeper:Josh Philippe, Josh Inglis

  • Bowler:Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Sean Abbott (vc), Jason Behrendorff
