Kent Spitfires were many people’s favourites to defend their 2021 T20 Blast title and they may still go all the way and do just that. However, they have also had a nightmare start to the season and have already been beaten by last year’s runners-up Somerset and their local rivals Essex Eagles. An opening partnership of 62 inside 7 overs from Zak Crawley and Daniel Bell-Drummond looked like it had set Kent up well on Friday and they posted 184-4. However, the bowlers could not defend the total with Joe Denly’s only over going for 16 runs to begin the innings.
