Sussex Sharks will take on Hampshire Hawks in the 2022 Vitality Blast. The game will be played at the County Ground, Hove starting at 18:30 local time on Sunday July 3rd.
Sussex Sharks have won only four games throughout the group stage so far this season and will not be progressing to the quarter finals. They recorded their ninth defeat of the campaign on Friday evening when they went down by 28 runs at home to Essex Eagles. Rashid Khan impressed with the ball, taking 3-30 and was well backed up by Delray Rawlins (2-34) and the experienced Ravi Bopara (2-30). However, the Sharks let the Eagles score too many runs and 197-8 was always going to be tough to chase. In spite of 41 from 21 balls for Ali Orr and 47 runs from 28 balls from Ravi Bopara, the Sharks never looked likely to overhaul the target.
Hampshire Hawks continued their very impressive second half of the group stage form with a 15 run win over Gloucestershire on Friday evening at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton. On a bowler friendly wicket, all six of the Hampshire attack took wickets as Gloucestershire were restricted to 125 all out from 19.4 overs. Spinner Liam Dawson took 2-16 from his 4 overs and was backed up by the even more economical Nathan Ellis who took 1-14 from 3.4 overs. With the bat, the usually reliable opening pair of James Vince and Ben McDermott could only contribute 18 runs but James Fuller’s 45 runs from 24 balls from number six were crucial.
