Essex Eagles have a three point cushion over fifth placed Gloucestershire and come into this match in third place in the South Group. The Eagles have won four of their last five games in the competition, and they were comfortable victors over group leaders Surrey last Friday. Michael Pepper continued his strong season with 48 runs from only 18 balls and was well supported by Paul Walter’s 49 from 33 balls. With the ball, 24 year old fast medium bowler, Aaron Beard, registered his career best T20 figures of 4-29 and dismissed three of Surrey’s top four. Spinner Simon Harmer continued his strong season with 2-20 from 4 overs.
