Surrey are well placed in 3rd position in the South Group with two group games remaining. However, all teams around them have a game in hand and they are only one point above 5th placed Gloucestershire and two points above 6th placed Essex Eagles. Surrey have won only one of their last four T20 Blast matches, a 20 run victory over Hampshire Hawks. Their squad has been picked apart by the England selectors in recent weeks with the new look England squad now depriving them of Will Jacks who top scored with a 54-ball 87 in their last match. They will also miss Ollie Pope with a thigh injury.

Kent Spitfires top the South Group with three group games still to play. They have lost only two of their last seven T20 Blast fixtures and barring a collapse in their final matches, should definitely qualify for the knockout stage. Kent’s squad has also been adversely affected by the completely new England ODI squad with Zak Crawley being called up in the format for the first time. Kent won the reverse fixture in Canterbury earlier this month. After Spitfires had posted 191-4, Surrey could only muster 180-6 with Matthew Milnes taking a hat-trick with the final three balls of the match.
