Supernovas have been unchanged for both matches so far – a decision which paid off as they bounced back from their opening defeat by beating Velocity last time out. Arundhati Reddy and Mansi Joshi are the two to have missed out in the 13-strong squad.
Jemimah Rodrigues’ match-winning innings booked the Supernovas’ place in this final, as she hit an unbeaten 77 from 48 balls last time out. She scored 24 from 19 in the opening game too, with the Indian teenager continuing to mark herself as a star for the future.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored an unbeaten 46 in the opening game, meanwhile. The trailblazing poster girl of Indian women’s cricket remains one of the game’s most iconic female players.
Poonam Yadav’s economic bowling helped them to victory in the final group game, meanwhile, as she claimed 1-13 from her four overs, while Anuja Patil took 1-12 in the first game.
New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine took a wicket and hit 32 in the first match, meanwhile, continuing the form she showed for her country against India earlier this year. Devine took four wickets and hit two half-centuries against India in their WT20i series in New Zealand.
Supernovas fell just short in the first game, finishing on 138/6 from their 20 overs as they replied to the Trailblazers’ 140/5. Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with 46 not out in the Supernovas’ innings but Lea Tahuhu was run out of the last ball as they just failed.
Last time out, however, Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten 77 led them to 142/3 and Velocity closed on 130/3 thanks to some excellent economic bowling from Poonam Yadav (1-13).

Bangladesh’s Asia Cup hero Jahanara Alam failed to make the impact expected when she replaced Sushree Pradhan last time out, and Velocity could gamble by reversing that change. All-rounder Devika Vaidya is the only Velocity player yet to feature
Danni Wyatt is in good form, following up her match-winning 46 from 35 balls in the win against Trailblazers with 43 from 33 balls last time out. The England star has two T20i centuries to her name and scored a half-century in her most recent T20i for her country before this tournament.
Veteran Indian international Mithali Raj joins her in the middle order, though her unbeaten 40 last time out did come at a lower strike rate than was needed.
With the ball, meanwhile, New Zealand teenager Amelia Kerr has taken 2-21 in both matches so far. Her batting ability is already well-known too, thanks to her record-breaking 232* in the WODI against Ireland, aged just 17, last summer.
Shikha Pandey has kept things tight with the ball, meanwhile, with 1-18 and 1-17 in her two matches so far. She was similarly mean opening the bowling for India against England too.
Velocity overcame a late batting collapse to get over the line in the first game against Trailblazers, completing a low chase of 113 to win by three wickets with two overs remaining. They had cruised to 111/2 in the 17th over thanks to Danni Wyatt’s 46, but the English ace’s dismissal sparked an extraordinary collapse to 111/7 before Sushree Pradhan hit the winning runs.
Last time out, however, they were set 143 to beat Supernovas and fell short despite 43 from Wyatt. Velocity could only reach 130/3 in reply.

Supernovas go into this game on the back of a 12-run win against Velocity in the final group game. Jemimah Rodrigues hit 77* from 48 balls in a total of 142/3, and Poonam Yadav’s 1-13 helped limit velocity to 130/3 despite Danni Wyatt’s 43.
Supernovas won when these two teams met in the final group game and Velocity’s middle-order has not shown enough to suggest they can reverse that result in the final.
Final Verdict: Back Supernovas to beat Velocity
