After a shaky start in this IPL 9, Sunrisers Hyderabad have fought back to qualify for the playoffs. Kolkata Knight Riders, by virtue of their Sunday’s victory over the Sunrisers, have also managed to go through. Though both the teams finished with 16 points each, SRH are placed third on the points table due to a better net run-rate. SRH and KKR will be playing the eliminator on May 25 at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. The winner of this match will advance to Qualifier 2 while the loser will be eliminated from the tournament. Play is scheduled to commence at 8 PM local time.

Venue and Toss
The wicket at the Feroz Shah Kotla has been fairly good for batting in this IPL and runs have been easy to score here once the batsmen spend some time at the crease. The last four games here have all resulted in first innings total of over 160. So anything around 170 in the first innings should about par.
Of the last four games at this ground, three have been won by the side that has batted first. So assuming that the dew won't interfere in the match, the team that wins the toss will probably elect to bat first.
If SRH win the toss, the match could go either way, otherwise it will get tough for them to beat KKR.

If Sunrisers Hyderabad Bat First
Predicted score: 160
Openers Dhawan and Warner will have to ensure a healthy partnership if SRH are to post a good total on the board. The former will be coming with a fifty in the previous match while the latter is currently the second-highest run-scorer of the season. Though Yuvraj Singh and Kane Williamson are both dangerous batsmen in the middle-order, they have not been consistent enough. So, much is going to depend on their opening stand. If Warner and Dhawan are able to start off well, SRH should be heading towards that 160 mark.
KKR will miss the services of their bowling all-rounder Andre Russell and will have to depend on Holder and Munro in the pace department. However, they have good spin options in Narine, Shakib and Pathan who have been quite impressive in this IPL. So Kolkata might open their bowling with spin on Wednesday. If this does the trick and they are able to get both the openers early, KKR could very well restrict them below 160.

If Kolkata Knight Riders Bat First

Gambhir and Uthappa's opening stand will be vital for Kolkata Knight Riders. The skipper is ranking among the top 10 batsmen of the tournament while Uthappa has also been chipping in with some runs on a consistent basis. Yusuf Pathan, a destructive batsman in T20 format, looks to be in good form with three fifties in this IPL. So if the openers take their team off to a flying start, and with strong hitters Pathan and Holder down the order, KKR should reach 170 without too much of a problem.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have been one of the better bowling sides in IPL 9. Their two strike bowlers Bhuvneshwar and Mustafizur feature in the list of top 5 bowlers and they will be Warner's best bet to provide him the initial breakthroughs. Sran and Hooda ran through KKR's top-order in their most recent fixture, and if SRH are able to do it again on Wednesday, the middle-order could crumble under pressure and the Knight Riders will then have to defend a total less than 170.
Our Prediction
Both the teams will be playing at the Feroz Shah Kotla for the first time in this IPL. Since it is a neutral venue, the home advantage goes out of the equation. Sunrisers Hyderabad boast a strong batting lineup and an equally impressive bowling attack. Kolkata Knight Riders, too have a well-balanced batting and bowling but they will be without their key player Russell which might hamper their performance. They do, however, have a psychological edge over SRH as they have beaten them four times in the six IPL games they have played against each other. Moreover, they have three consecutive wins against Hyderabad and will be seeking their fourth straight victory over them on Wednesday.
Both teams appear to be equally strong and either can beat the other on a given day. But considering the results of their previous meetings, we feel that Kolkata Knight Riders should be the favorites to win this match.
