South Castries Lions are favourites to win

South Castries Lions vs Mon Repos Stars, St Lucia T10 Blast

South Castries Lions are big favourites ahead of the Dream 11 St Lucia T10 Blast Final, as they prepare to take on shock semi-final winners Mon Repos Stars. The match will be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, Gros Islet, on July 7 and the live action gets underway at 14:00 local time.

South Castries Lions have been one of the best teams in the tournament, losing just once so far. Johnson Charles (60) and Alex Antoine (56) led them to 131/2 in their semi-final against Central Castries, before Tarrick Edward’s 4-14 and Antoine’s 3-11 helped them bowl Central Castries out for just 47 in reply.

Mon Repos Stars lost three in a row in the second round and were drawn against unbeaten Gros Islet Cannon Blasters in the semi-final. They pulled off a huge shock win, however – Kevin Augustin hitting 68* from 25 balls in a total of 118/4 and then taking one of the wickets to fall in reply as they restricted the Cannon Blasters to 110/3.

South Castries Team News & Playing 11

SCL Team News

Collinus Callendar may miss the final, having sat out of the last two matches now – Noelle Leo replacing him. Otherwise, South Castries Lions have been fairly consistent with their line-ups.

SCL Key Players

  • Kester Charlemagne: Took his tenth wicket of the tournament last time out, finishing with 1-3, and he bowled a match-winning final over in the first meeting between these teams too.
  • Johnson Charles: Smashed four fours and give sixes as he hit 60 from 27 balls in the semi-final win, continuing to live up to his batting reputation.
  • Alex Antoine: His excellent form in the semi-final saw him hit 56 from 32 opening the batting and then take 3-11 with the ball.

SCL Team Form

South Castries won five matches in a row at the start of the tournament and have won both games since their only defeat, against the Gros Islet Cannon Blasters. That includes their two wins against Mon Repos Stars.

In the semi-final, Johnson Charles and Alex Antoine batted superbly, sharing a century partnership at the top of the order as the Lions posted 131/2. In reply, Tarrick Edward (4-14), Alex Antoine (3-11) and Daniel Baptiste (2-17) helped bowl Central Castries out for 47 in nine overs.

South Castries Predicted Playing 11

Johnson Charles (wk), Alex Antoine, Tonius Simon, Kester Charlermagne, Kemron Charles, Xavier Gabriel, Malcolm Monrose, Daren Sammy (c), Daniel Baptiste, Tarrick Edward, Noelle Leo

SCL vs MRS Dream11 Prediction

  • Wicket-keeper(s)

Johnson Charles is an obvious choice for wicket-keeper – he is in excellent form and his T20 and T10 record speaks for itself. He is a big-hitting opening batsman and has proved his much with his recent innings. Still, Sabinus Emmanuel is also worth selecting given the runs he has scored in this tournament too. He is 9.5 credits.

  • Batsmen

Tonius Simon is 9.5 credits but the all-rounder can be key for South Castries Lions. He did not bat last time out, but only because of the monstrous opening partnership. Daren Sammy is also 9.5 credits and he is a gamble considering there are games where he has been well down the order. He performed well last time these teams met, however. For the final batsman, Shervin Charles is 8.5 credits and has been inconsistent. At his best, such as when these teams first met, he can produce runs up the order though.

  • All-rounder(s)

The all-rounder choices are vast. Alex Antoine is an obvious pick at ten credits though – he opens the batting and bowled superbly last time too. His all-round performance in the semi-final makes him a captain pick realistically. Likewise, Kevin Augustin was central to Mon Repos Stars’ semi-final win and at 9.5 credits can not be ignored. That leaves one space, and Kester Charlermagne’s consistency with the ball makes him the stand-out contender at nine credits. The other three can all be good picks too, but not at the expense of Antoine, Augustin and Charlermagne.

  • Bowlers

The cost leaves things tight for the bowlers, but you can afford one of Sadrack Descartes and Garey Mathurin. Descartes’ wicket-taking at the end of the second group stage – and the fact he bats up the order – may make him the better pick. Malcolm Monrose and Daniel Baptiste are both eight credits, meanwhile, which is all you can afford now. Baptiste’s form makes him a good pick and Monrose has outperformed, and is more likely to play, than the others at the same price.

  • Captain/vice-captain

After their semi-final performances, the all-rounders have proved their worth now. Alex Antoine is the captain and Kevin Augustin is the vice-captain. Others are capable of big knocks or important wickets, but those two batted and bowled well last time out to go from good picks to definite picks

SCL vs MRS Dream11 Team Prediction

  • All Rounder:Kevin Augustin (vc), Alex Antoine (c), Kester Charlermagne

  • Wicket Keeper:Sabinus Emmanuel, Johnson Charles

  • Bowler:Sadrack Descartes, Daniel Baptiste, Malcolm Monrose

Mon Repos Stars Team News & Playing 11

MRS Team News

Changes seem unlikely after their stunning semi-final win, which will mean Kendal Samuel and Dichege Henry missing the final.

MRS Key Players

  • Sabinus Emmanuel: Superb early form with the bat, playing consistently well at the top of the order, has halted slightly in the last two games but he has proved what he is capable of.
  • Kevin Augustin: The all-rounder has been a key figure and proved as much as he smashed 68* from 25 balls and then took 1-25 last time out.
  • Sadrack Descartes: Suddenly hit some wicket-taking form at the end of the second group stage, including a six-wicket haul in one game and two when these teams last met.

MRS Team Form

Mon Repos Stars looked down and out after three straight defeats in the second group stage left them in fourth place and facing the toughest semi-final.

They bounced back against the odds, however, with Kevin Augustin’s 68* leading them to 118/4 before they restricted previously unbeaten Gros Islet Cannon Blasters to 110/3 in reply.

Mon Repos Stars Predicted Playing 11

Shervin Charles, Sabinus Emmanuel (wk), Mervin Wells, Kevin Augustin, Rohan Lesmond, Keon Gaston, Sadrack Descartes, Hazel Charlery, Evanus Emmanuel, Kendal Samuel, Garey Mathurin
