Somerset have had an exceptional start to the 2022 T20 Blast after away wins against Kent Spitfires and Hampshire Hawks with a home victory over Essex Eagles on Sunday. Monday’s win over Hampshire Hawks was setup by the bowling attack after Somerset had won the toss and chose to field. Scotland’s Josh Davey took 3-21 from his four overs with Marchant de Lange, Lewis Gregory and Ben Green all chipping in with two wickets each. Rilee Rossouw hit 26 from 18 balls against the Hawks and is the tournament’s leading run scorer.
Sussex Sharks were beaten by Glamorgan and Gloucestershire in their first two games but finally got their first win of the season against the 2021 Champions Kent Spitfires on Sunday. For the first time this season, Mohammad Rizwan did not top score for the Sharks as Luke Wright (43) and Tom Alsop (65 not-out) combined to take them to 171-5. With the ball, the experienced pair of Steve Finn and Ravi Bopara both took two wickets as Kent were restricted to 167-7. New signing Obed McCoy and Rashid Khan will both be unavailable due to their IPL involvement.
