Ireland Women are favourites to win
Scotland Women will take on Ireland Women in the second WIT20 at The Grange Club, Edinburgh. The second game in the series begins at 13:00 local time on Tuesday 6th September.
The hosts were well beaten in the opening game of the series but can certainly take some positives from their batting performance into this game. 22 year old all-rounder Saskia Horley made her international debut on Monday and looks set to have a long and successful career at this level.
Debutant, Saskia Horley, top scored for Scotland with 52 runs from 42 balls and showed the lead to many of her more experienced team-mates in the opening game of the series. Openers, Sarah Bryce and Ailsa Lister, both made starts but will be looking to kick on in this game.
17 year old off-spinner Katherine Fraser took both Ireland wickets on Monday and ended with 2-31 from her four overs. The three Scottish spinners, Fraser, Abtaha Maqsood and Saskia Horley, were the only bowlers on their side who kept their economy rate under 10.
Scotland Women are looking to avoid their third successive defeat in this game. The losing margins have been nine wickets and eight wickets in the last two matches.
It was a very strong performance from the visitors in Edinburgh to get the series underway on Monday. Right arm medium pacer Arlene Kelly was the standout bowler with 2-12 from her four overs and took the wickets of middle order batters Abbi Aitken-Drummond and Saskia Horley.
Orla Prendergast was the top batter for Ireland and the best batter in the game by a large margin in the opening game of the series. She hit 75 not out from 45 balls and enjoyed the unbeaten third wicket partnership of 99 with captain Laura Delaney.
Cara Murray and Orla Prendergast were the only two of the seven bowlers used by Ireland to not pick up a wicket at The Grange in the first IT20. Georgina Dempsey conceded 17 runs from her over but did get the crucial dismissal of Ailsa Lister. No other Irish bowler had an economy rate over 8.66.
Ireland’s previous games in this format were against Australia and Pakistan in a tri-series tournament in July this year. They lost all three matches so the big win on Monday was much needed.
The match will be played at The Grange Club, Edinburgh. The pitch was a lot quicker than expected on Monday and we expect a par score to be over 160 in this WIT20.

Ireland Women were dominant from the moment they split up the Scottish opening pair in the fifth over of Monday’s game. We expect Scotland to work very hard in this clash but to lack enough players with enough batting power. We are predicting another victory for Ireland.
