South Africa vs Australia 3rd ODI Match Prediction

South Africa could secure a series whitewash when they take on Australia in the third and final ODI of this series. The match takes place at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, on March 7 and the live action gets underway at 10:00 local time.

South Africa have proved too good so far, winning both matches comfortably. In the first game, Heinrich Klaasen hit 123* from 114 balls in a total of 291/7 and the Proteas bowled Australia out for 217 in reply.

Last time out, Australia looked well set for a big score until Lungi Ngidi ripped through their lower order. He took 6-58 and Australia were all out for 271, setting it up for Janneman Malan’s 129* to lead them to a six-wicket win.

South Africa Team News & Playing 11

SA Team News

South Africa’s only change last time out was an enforced one, with JJ Smuts replacing injured Temba Bavuma. Rassie van der Dussen has come into the squad, but Smuts’ decent knock at number three should earn him another chance. There could be bowling changes for this match given the series is wrapped up – Lutho Sipamla and Beuran Hendricks are yet to feature.

SA Key Players

Quinton de Kock: Quiet so far, but the South Africa batsman is still their key man at the top of the order and will be keen to sign off with a big score.

Lungi Ngidi: Started the series with 3-30 in the first game and then stepped things up another level when he ripped through the Australian lower order to claim 6-58 last time out and pass 50 ODI wickets.

Heinrich Klaasen: Hit a match-winning 123* from 114 balls in the first game and continued his good batting form with 51 from 52 balls last time out.

SA Team Form

South Africa have sealed a series victory to follow their tied series with England. Heinrich Klaasen and Janneman Malan have both hit centuries in this series with Australia, while Lungi Ngidi’s nine wickets – including 6-58 last time out – have been key too. They have won both matches comfortably.

South Africa Predicted Playing 11

Quinton de Kock (c,wk), Janneman Malan, JJ Smuts, Heinrich Klaasen, Kyle Verreynne, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi

RSA vs AUS Dream11 Team Prediction, Captain, Vice Captain

Wicket-keeper(s)

Quinton de Kock might not have fired in this series yet, but at 10.5 credits he still represents good value if he can get back to the form he showed against England very recently.

Batsmen

It is hard to ignore Australia’s top three given the potential for David Warner, Steve Smith and Aaron Finch to all rack up big scores. Heinrich Klaasen is in top form for South Africa, meanwhile, and at 8.5 credits helps to balance the cost of the Aussie trio, while Janneman Malan demands selection at just eight credits given his century last time out.

All-rounders

The all-rounders also offer a chance to keep costs down, particularly as D’Arcy Short is just eight credits despite his half-century last time out and JJ Smuts – who batted at three for South Africa – is also the same price.

Bowlers

That should allow you to pick one of the nine-credit bowlers. Mitchell Starc is away so the choice is Lungi Ngidi or Pat Cummins and the former’s nine wickets so far make him the stand-out choice. It leaves 17 credits, and both frontline spin bowlers – Tabraiz Shamsi and Adam Zampa – are 8.5 credits.

Captain/vice-captain

Australia might be favourites for this match, but the form book suggests it is South Africa who you should be looking at for captain and vice-captain. Heinrich Klaasen has hit an unbeaten century and a half-century so far to prove his batting form, while Lungi Ngidi has nine wickets. If both play, both could be prominent again.

SA vs AUS Dream11 Team Prediction

  • Batsmen:David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith, Heinrich Klaasen (vc), Janneman Malan

  • All Rounder:D’Arcy Short, JJ Smuts

  • Wicket Keeper:Quinton de Kock

  • Bowler:Tabraiz Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi (c), Adam Zampa

Australia Team News & Playing 11

AUS Team News

There will be at least one change for Australia, with Mitchell Starc having been given permission to fly home to watch wife Alyssa Healy play in the T20 World Cup final. Ashton Agar came into the team last time out, but the extra spin option could not prevent another defeat. Kane Richardson and Josh Hazlewood could both feature in the final game.

AUS Key Players

Steve Smith: Scored 76 in the opening game to back up the two big scores he hit against India, and his batting form will be key to Australia’s hopes of ending their losing streak.

David Warner: A fast-paced 35 in a 50-run opening partnership set a good platform last time out, but Australia know if Warner goes deeper they could be on for a very big score.

Pat Cummins: Took his 100th ODI wicket in the first game of the series and claimed 1-59 last time out to move to four wickets in this series.

AUS Team Form

World Cup semi-final elimination, a 2-1 series defeat to India and now this series loss means Australia have won ODI win in their last seven matches. There have been some positives – Steve Smith has been in excellent batting form in three of the last four defeats, for example – but they failed to capitalise on Aaron Finch and D’Arcy Short’s half-centuries last time out as South Africa slammed the brakes on the tourists’ innings and then went on to win by six wickets.

Australia Predicted Playing 11

David Warner, Aaron Finch (c), Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, D’Arcy Short, Alex Carey (wk), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa

Lungi Ngidi’s nine wickets have been key in this series, with Heinrich Klaasen and Janneman Malan delivering the goods with the bat in two good all-round Proteas’ performances.
