Having faced three consecutive defeats, Rising Pune Supergiants have landed to the bottom of the points table. Even if they win their remaining two games, it won't be enough to take them to the playoffs. The sixth positioned Delhi Daredevils, on the other hand, are still in the hunt with 12 points from 11 games. The two teams will now go head-to-head tonight on May 17 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. This will be the 49th match of the Indian Premier League 2016 and play will begin at 8 PM local time.
Pitch Report and Toss Factor
This has not been an easy wicket to bat on, especially during the second innings. Only Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have managed to score beyond 150 here. The ball is likely to swing and bounce more off this pitch, so anything around 140 should be about par.

Though Rahane flopped in the previous two games, he will still be their best bet to take them to a good total. If Khawaja and Bailey bat well at the top, it will take some pressure off of Rahane who can then look to bat through the innings. Tiwary's performance has declined ever since being pushed down the order while Irfan Pathan does not instill much confidence with the bat in hand. So if Delhi remove the top three early, it will get difficult for RPS middle-order to reach the 130 mark.
The Daredevils will back their seamers Zaheer and Morris to do the early damage and they might as well go with an extra pacer in place of Nadeem. Mishra and Tahir are always a threat irrespective of the nature of the pitch. RPS batsmen, thus, will have to get their eye in before they start playing extravagant shots.

If Delhi Daredevils Bat First
Predicted score: 140
Quinton de Kock is for Delhi what Rahane is for Pune. The opener scored a 28-ball 40 in the previous match against Mumbai at Visakhapatnam and he will have to replicate this performance tonight. All the Daredevils need is a big innings from de Kock with Nair and Samson supporting him at the top. If they succeed in doing this, Duminy and Morris can cache in on the good start to put up a score of around 140-150.
Fast Bowlers Perera, Dinda and Irfan could lead the pace attack for RPS. Perera has been the best of the three and is more likely to dismiss de Kock. If the opener loses his wicket within the powerplay itself, the middle-order could crumble under pressure and then it won't be easy to score off Zampa and Ravichandran Ashwin later on in the innings. Delhi will have to keep wickets in hand, otherwise they could end up well short of the predicted score.
Our Prediction
When the two teams met earlier in the tournament at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, RPS clinched the match by seven wickets. The fact that they have beaten the Daredevils once in this IPL will lift their morale ahead of tonight's fixture. However, they have not been able to win a single match on either of their home grounds and this will play on the back of their minds. Delhi have been playing better cricket and will try to win at all costs as a win here will increase their chances of making it to the top four.
Rising Pune Supergiants have nothing to lose and will be playing without any pressure as opposed to Delhi Daredevils. But based on the current form of both the teams, we feel that the latter have a better chance of pulling off a win tonight.
