If Royal Challengers Bangalore Bat First

The top three comprising of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are the key for RCB when it comes to batting. Kohli has been exceptional in this IPL and is almost certain to finish as the highest run-scorer of the tournament. Even though Gayle and Kohli both scored in single digits in the last match against Gujarat Lions, de Villiers single-handedly took his side over the line. So RCB needs just one of their top three to play a big innings and with a little help from Rahul and Watson in the middle-order, they can easily post 180 on the board.
Dhawal Kulkarni and Praveen Kumar are likely to open the bowling for Gujarat. The two seamers have been good this season, but the former was brilliant with his 4-wicket haul against RCB in the first qualifier. Jadeja too grabbed two scalps and could be effective again in the final. Dwayne Bravo has bowled well in the middle overs and has been hard to score off at the death. If the Lions remove Bangalore's top three with no more than 50 on the board, they will create a strong chance for themselves of restricting them below 180.

If Gujarat Lions Bat First
Predicted score: 170 and above
Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum will be expected to give their team a good start. Both are equally destructive batsmen in the cricket's shortest format and can take the game away from the opposition in no time. Batting at No. 3 will be skipper Suresh Raina who has scored the most no. of runs for Gujarat. Karthik and Smith have also been among the runs. So if the Lions maintain a healthy run-rate without losing too many wickets early on, they should be able to reach 170 with fantastic finishers in Smith and Bravo.
With 20 wickets each so far in this IPL, Shane Watson and Yuzvendra Chahal have been the most successful bowlers for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Watson took 4 wickets in the first qualifier against the Lions. Since the two bowlers are in top form, Gujarat will look to bat cautiously against them. Jordan and Abdulla also bagged a couple of wickets and were quite economical. GL's best bet will be to go after Aravind and Binny who have been the least threatening of the lot. If the RCB bowlers bowl tight spells and don't give away easy runs, the Lions will be forced to play extravagant strokes which may result in the loss of wickets. In such a scenario, getting to 170 will be tough for them.

After their victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Lions will be going into the final with a lot of confidence. Despite being a new team, they have played very well as a unit to reach this far. With quality T20 players like Finch, McCullum, Smith and Bravo in their side, the Lions will surely fancy their chances. But Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking red hot at the moment with five wins on the trot. Moreover, they will be playing the final on their home ground in Bangalore where they have defeated Gujarat twice in this tournament already.
Gujarat Lions have all the resources that make them a strong T20 team and they will always be in with an outside chance, should Royal Challengers Bangalore crumble under the pressure of performing at home. But otherwise, we predict RCB to win the final and bag their first ever IPL title.
