Mohammad Hasnain made a positive impact on his T20 debut, while Harry Gurney has also slotted into the pace attack. Gladiators fans will be keen to see if Sunil Narine can recover fully from his finger injury, meanwhile.
Shane Watson and Umar Akmal both hit two half-centuries in their opening six games, with Akmal just edging Watson overall with 201 runs to 193 from those games.
Rilee Rossouw came into the tournament on the back of his Bangladesh Premier League exploits – where he finished as top scorer – and scored a half-century in the win against Multan Sultans earlier in the Pakistan Super League
With the ball, Sohail Tanvir had nine wickets from his first six games and, just as key, boasted an impressive economy rate of 6.21 runs per over.

After four straight wins, Quetta went into their match with Multan Sultans last time out after back-to-back defeats. They had most recently beaten Lahore Qalandars by three wickets – Sarfraz Ahmed’s half-century helping them to 148/7 off the final ball – but the winning start ended there.
First, Umar Akmal’s 55 from 37 balls in a total of 186/5 paled into insignificance as Colin Ingram took their bowling apart with a superb century to earn Karachi Kings a six-wicket win.
Then, they were dismissed for just 106 against the Qalandars – losing by eight wickets with 21 balls remaining.

Peshawar Zalmi were unchanged last time out, sticking with an overseas quartet of Andre Fletcher, Kieron Pollard, Liam Dawson and captain Darren Sammy after victory against Multan Sultans. It meant no place for Dawid Malan, while Ibtisam Sheikh has been preferred to Sameen Gul with the ball.
Hasan Ali’s wicket-taking form has been a key part of Peshawar Zalmi’s early success. He already 16 wickets from six matches prior to the game against Islamabad United last time out.
Ibtisam Sheikh was in wicket-taking form in that game, meanwhile, grabbing the key early wicket of Luke Ronchi in his first over.
Wahab Riaz has been outshone as a result, but his first six matches brought eight wickets with a brilliant economy rate too.
Zalmi’s batting line-up boasts strength in depth, meanwhile. Umar Amin (54*) and Kieron Pollard (52*) led them to victory against Multan Sultans, while Imam-ul-Haq scored 166 runs in his first five innings – including two half-centuries – and Umar Amin weighed in with 144 from his first four knocks.
It has helped compensate for Kamran Akmal’s lack of form, but his ability is well known – he was, after all, second-top run-scorer in last season’s PSL.
Peshawar Zalmi went into their recent match with Islamabad United having won four of their first six games.
They lost their first match to Quetta Gladiators, but bounced back brilliantly to surge up the table. After suffering their second defeat – dismissed for 146 in reply to 158/9 against Islamabad United – Zalmi beat Multan Sultans in back-to-back games to get back to winning ways.
In the first meeting, Hasan Ali claimed 4-17 from four overs as the Sultans were all out for 145 – his third four-wicket haul of the tournament so far and, incredibly, his most expensive. Imam-ul-Haq hit 52 in reply as Zalmi claimed a five-wicket win.
In the second match, the Sultans posted 172/5 but unbeaten half-centuries from Umar Amin and Kieron Pollard saw Zalmi claim a seven-wicket win.

Both sides have beaten each other five times apiece, with one no result. Quetta’s most recent win was when they met at the start of this year’s tournament, gaining revenge for Peshawar’s play-off win last season.
Umar Akmal was the star man at the start of this year’s tournament – hitting an unbeaten 75 from 50 balls as Quetta Gladiators reached 161/4 to earn a six-wicket win, with just two balls remaining. That was despite Wahab Riaz claiming an excellent 2-18 from his four overs.
Last year’s play-off, meanwhile, had a thrilling finale. Peshawar were all out for 157, of which Liam Dawson scored 62, as Rahat Ali claimed 4-16 with the ball, In reply, Quetta were well placed needing 50 from the last six overs with six wickets in hand, but collapsed to 133/8 at the star of the final over. They started the over with 22 runs from the first four balls, however, before Mir Hamza was run out off the final ball to leave the Gladiators just one short on 156/9.
Quetta Galdiators begin as favorites amongst the bookmakers to win this 23rd match of the Pakistan Super League 2019 and they are being offered at odds of 1.87 on Betfair and 1.80 on both Betway and Bet365. Peshawar Zalmi are the underdogs for this game at 1.95 on Betway, 2 on Bet365 and 2.12 on Betfair.
Quetta Gladiators faded after a great start to this year’s Pakistan Super League but a win against Peshawar Zalmi would set them up perfectly for the final run-in.
