Perth Scorchers Team News & Playing 11

PRS Team News

With Mitchell Marsh, Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff in the Australian ODI squad – and Shaun Marsh already unavailable due to test commitments before also being selected – David Willey, Aaron Hardie and Usman Qadir all came into the side for the win against Melbourne Stars last time out. Mitchell Marsh’s illness saw Ashton Turner added to the squad too in a further blow for the Scorchers, meanwhile, meaning he too will miss out against Sydney Sixers.

Hardie made his Big Bash debut after Joel Paris was ruled out through injury but, after conceding 13 runs from his one over, Matt Kelly could replace him this time. Sam Whiteman is the obvious replacement for Turner.

PRS Key Players

Perth Scorchers have been hit hard by the international call-ups, with Ashton Turner in particular in fine form in recent matches. Cameron Bancroft’s return continues apace, however – he hit 59 from 42 balls against Melbourne Stars last time out – his first half-century since his return from his ball-tampering ban.

Andrew Tye was back to his best with the ball, meanwhile, claiming 4-18 from four overs to look more like the bowler who has terrorised BBL batsmen in recent seasons. He now has eight wickets in the tournament, the same as Nathan Coulter-Nile.

PRS Team Form

Victory against Melbourne Stars last time out was only Perth Scorchers’ second win of the tournament so far. They had previously lost three in a row since bowling Adelaide Strikers out for 88 on their way to a seven-wicket win.

They scored just 107/8 in a six-wicket loss to Hobart Hurricanes and then fell just short against Sydney Thunder – Ashton Turner’s unbeaten 60 from 36 balls almost pulling off a stunning comeback as the Scorchers recovered from 54/5 in 11.1 overs to finish on 141/5 in a one-run defeat.Next up, they were unable to defend a below-par 134/6 against Brisbane Heat, despite more good batting from Turner and 3-25 from Nathan Coulter-Nile with the ball in a five-wicket loss, but they did bounce back against Melbourne Stars. After Andrew Tye’s 4-18 from four overs with the ball, Cameron Bancroft hit 59 from 42 balls to lead the Scorchers to a six-wicket win.

Sydney Sixers Team News & Playing 11

SYS Team News

Sydney Sixers were rewarded for fielding an unchanged team for the third consecutive match when they beat Adelaide Strikers last time out. Justin Avendano has replaced Jake Edwards but scores of five and zero in his last two innings could mean his place is under threat having only just made his Big Bash debut. Nathan Lyon’s recall to the Australian ODI squad means he remains unavailable, but he has not featured so far this season anyway having been on test duty.

SYS Key Players

Jordan Silk scored an unbeaten 67 as Sydney Sixers beat the Scorchers in their first game of this year’s tournament and he remains the Sixers’ top run scorer so far this season with 194 from seven innings.

Daniel Hughes is closing in quickly, however – he has moved to 188 runs, having scored 62 in that opening win against the Scorchers and added 61 and 24 in his last two innings. Joe Denly was the star of the show last time out, meanwhile. He finally showcased his best T20 form with an unbeaten 76 from 60 balls in a patient chase of 151 to beat Adelaide Strikers.

Denly’s fellow Englishman Tom Curran has shone with bat and ball, meanwhile. His wicket against Adelaide was his 11th of the tournament so far, while he has a high score of 62 with the bat – scored in the Sydney Derby. He is two wickets behind Steve O’Keefe, who leads the Big Bash wicket charts so far. His 13 wickets include 3-19 from four overs against the Scorchers at the start of this year’s tournament.

SYS Team Form

Sydney Sixers have bounced back from two back-to-back defeats by winning three of their next four matches. They got back to winning ways as Tom Curran took 3-18 to restrict Melbourne Renegades to 99/9 in reply to 132.7 and backed that up as Moises Henriques scored 57 from 37 balls in a five-wicket win chasing 164/7 against Brisbane Heat.

They lost by five wickets in the final over to Hobart Hurricanes next up, despite Daniel Hughes scoring 61 in a total of 161/8, but got back to winning ways again last time out – Joe Denly scoring an unbeaten 76 in a six-wicket defeat of Adelaide Strikers.

Sydney Sixers Predicted Playing 11

Joe Denly, Jake Edwards, Moises Henriques, Dan Hughes, Jordan Silk, Josh Philippe, Tom Curran, Sean Abbott, Steve O’Keefe, Ben Dwarshuis, Ben Manenti

Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers Head to Head

Sydney Sixers beat Perth Scorchers when the two teams met just before Christmas in what was the Sixers’ first game of this season’s Big Bash League. Jordan Silk scored an unbeaten 67 from 49 balls in a total of 164/4 and Steve O’Keefe took 3-19 from four overs to restrict the Scorchers to 147/8 in reply.

Overall, however, it is Perth Scorchers with the better record. They have won eight of the 13 previous matches and claimed another win in a super over after a tie. Sydney Sixers’ win last month was just their fourth in this fixture and their first since December 2016.

Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers Betting Odds

Perth Scorchers are in poor form – despite winning last time out – and missing several key players to international duty. Despite this, the boomakers have surprisingly made them favourites to beat the Sydney Sixers at 1.80 with Bet365, 1.73 with Betfair and 1.67. The Sixers can – and should – be backed at 2.10 to win with Betfair and Betway.

Cameron Bancroft did look to be playing his way back to form last time out, however, and he is 4.00 to be the Scorchers’ top batsman again. For the Sixers, Jordan Silk – who top-scored in the previous match between these two teams – is 6.00.

Tom Curran (3.75 with Bet365 to be the Sixers’ top bowler) and Steve O’Keefe (available at 4.50) will be key. Both have been in the wickets so far, sharing 24 between them to play a key part in the Sixers’ successes in the first part of the tournament.

🏆 Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers Prediction

Sydney Sixers beat Perth Scorchers at the start of this season’s tournament and – with the Scorchers missing several key internationals – can do so again at the Optus Stadium.

Final Verdict: Back Perth Scorchers to beat Sydney Sixers at 2.00 with Bet365 and 2.10 with Betfair and Betway.
