Perth Scorchers Team News & Playing 11

PRS Team News

Perth Scorchers have been one of the teams hit hardest by international call-ups, with Mitchell Marsh, Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff all in the original Australian ODI squad to face India and Shaun Marsh already away having been in the test team too. When Ashton Turner replaced the ill Mitchell Marsh in the ODI squad that meant five Scorchers unavailable.

Cameron Bancroft’s return from his ball-tampering ban has helped to combat that, however, and Turner was released from the ODI squad to play a starring role against the Sydney Sixers too. Matt Kelly replaced Aaron Hardie last time out, and the resurgent Scorchers could be unchanged to face Hobart.

PRS Key Players

Ashton Turner’s return from the Australian ODI squad was a boost for the Scorchers ahead of their previous game. He went on to score 60 against the Sydney Sixers and his last four innings have now produced scores of 60*, 47, 43* and 60.

Cameron Bancroft has set about restoring his reputation after his ball-tampering ban, meanwhile. He scored 59 in the win against Melbourne Stars and blasted an unbeaten 87 from 61 balls in the win against Sydney Sixers.

Andrew Tye has taken ten wickets, meanwhile, including six from his last two matches to prove his form. He took 4-18 from four overs against Melbourne Stars and followed that up with 2-33 last time out.

Nathan Coulter-Nile has gone wicketless in the last two matches, but he does have eight so far this season and scored 20 with the bat the last time these teams faced each other as well.

PRS Team Form

Perth Scorchers have roared back into form in their last two games, putting a three-match losing streak behind them. The Scorchers were guilty of below-par batting in defeats to Hobart, when they last met, Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat.

Cameron Bancroft and Ashton Turner have led the charge since, however, while Andrew Tye has been in the wickets. Against Melbourne Stars, Tye claimed 4-18 and Bancroft’s half-century earned a six-wicket win. Last time out, against Sydney Sixers, Tye took two more wickets and Bancroft hammered an unbeaten 87 as the Scorchers chased 178 to win by seven wickets – Turner weighing in with 60 too.

Hobart Hurricanes Team News & Playing 11

HBH Team News

Jake Doran replaced Alex Doolan last time out in the first change Hobart Hurricanes have made since the start of the tournament. With Tymals Mills out injured, the Hurricanes opted not to replace him while the absence of Tim Paine has not affected them either with Matthew Wade stepping up in his place.

HBH Key Players

D’Arcy Short was back in the runs last time out, moving to the top of the batting charts with an unbeaten 96 from 57 balls. It was his fourth half-century in seven innings so far, as he continues to excel in the Big Bash League.

He has been supported by captain Matthew Wade, who hit 41 from 38 balls in the win against Melbourne Stars. He now has 231 runs for the tournament. Ben McDermott and George Bailey have also contributed middle order runs, both hitting half-centuries in recent matches.

Riley Meredith was the top bowler when these sides last met, taking 3-15, and he followed that up with 4-21 in the win against Melbourne Stars last time out. He now has 11 wickets in the tournament.

That is one more than team-mate James Faulkner, who has ten so far, while Jofra Archer has taken nine.

HBH Team Form

After their five-match winning start came to an end with defeat to Melbourne Renegades, Hobart Hurricanes got back to winning ways last time out in the win against Melbourne Stars.

The Hurricanes previously chased 161 to beat Sydney Sixers by five wickets – D’Arcy Short scoring another half-century in a tense win with just one ball to spare. George Bailey top-scored with an unbeaten 70 in a total of 145/5 against the Renegades next up, but that total proved below par – they lost by six wickets in the final over.

But Hobart got back to winning ways last time out with a dominant batting display against Melbourne Stars. Short hit 96 from 57 balls and shared a 95-run opening stand with Matthew Wade (41) in a total of 185/2. Riley Meredith then took 4-21 from his four overs as the Stars were bowled out for 126.

Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes Head to Head

Hobart Hurricanes’ win against Perth Scorchers before Christmas was their sixth in ten previous matches against Perth Scorchers, and followed up their comprehensive win in last season’s semi-finals too.

On that occasion, Matthew Wade (71 from 45 balls) and Ben McDermott (67 from 30 balls) starred with the ball in a total of 210/4, and Dan Christian claimed 4-17 as the Scorchers were bowled out for 139.

Last time they met, meanwhile, Riley Meredith’s 3-15 helped restrict the Scorchers to 107/8 at Launceston and the Hurricanes got home with 2.3 overs to spare to win by six wickets.

Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes Betting Odds

Hobart Hurricanes’ dominant form has continued and they are 1.72 with Bet365 and 1.73 with Betfair and Betway to beat Perth Scorchers for a second time. The Scorchers are 2.10 to win.

In-form D’Arcy Short has been central to that and he is 2.88 with Betfair to be their top batsman, while fellow opener – and similarly in-form – Matthew Wade is 4.00 with Bet365. With both in form, they are also 1.80 with Bet365 and Betway to post the highest opening partnership.

Cameron Bancroft, after two back-to-back half-centuries, might have something to say about that, meanwhile. He is 3.75 to be the Scorchers’ top batsman. Ashton Turner is 4.45.

🏆 Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes Prediction

Perth Scorchers might have got back into form, thanks in no small part to Cameron Bancroft and Ashton Turner, but Hobart Hurricanes are the team to beat at the moment and the league leaders can continue their dominant form.

Final Verdict: Back Hobart Hurricanes to beat Perth Scorchers at 1.72 with Bet365 and 1.73 with Betfair and Betway.
