Paarl Rocks are favorites to win
After both teams’ most recent fixtures were ruined by the rain, Paarl Rocks welcome Tshwane Spartans to Boland Park for this MSL 2.0 fixture. The match takes place on November 17 and the live action starts at 14:00 local time.
The Rocks won their opening game – bowling Cape Town Blitz out for 84 in an 86-run win. Tabraiz Shamsi led the bowling with 3-16. The last match was rained off, however, due to rain and a wet outfield in Durban.
Tshwane Spartans, meanwhile, are yet to play a completed match. Their first was rained off completely, while only 7.1 overs were completed in their second – though that was enough for the Spartans to have been reduced to 33/4.

Paarl Rocks correctly elected to bat first at Boland Park in their last home game and they may be keen to do the same again.
Clear skies and zero chance of rain are the forecast for Paarl on Sunday afternoon. There will be some wind around, however, and temperatures will be in the low 20s.
Boland Park tends to offer up some turn, and looking at the wickets that fell in Paarl’s opening home game it will be no different this season.

With James Vince available after international duty with England, he could slot into the team that beat Cape Town Blitz first up.
Faf du Plessis: The South Africa captain’s 20-ball 38 last time out took him beyond 5,000 T20 runs, which include 30 half-centuries and one hundred too.
Hardus Viljoen: In good form in T20 cricket, having made his mark across the globe on the franchise circuit. He started this tournament with 2-9 against Cape Town Blitz – his two early wickets setting the tone for a huge win.
Bjorn Fortuin: Earned his South Africa debut in September after some excellent bowling in the CSA Pro T20 Challenge and he started the MSL 2.0 with 2-13 in the first game. He now has 70 T20 wickets in just 54 innings.
Faf du Plessis and Henry Davids each scored 38 as Paarl Rocks posted 170/9 against Cape Town Blitz, but the story belonged to their bowlers – Tabraiz Shamsi, Hardus Viljoen and Bjorn Fortuin all starred as the bowled the Blitz out for 84. They were denied the chance to back it up against Durban Heat, however, when rain washed out their second fixture in Mzansi Super League.

Tom Curran did not feature last time out, before the rain came. The English all-rounder is set to join up with the team after his part in England’s thrilling series win against New Zealand. He could slot in for Corbin Bosch this time.
AB de Villiers: Unbeaten before the rain came last time out, the South African icon remains one of the finest T20 batsmen in world cricket.
Lungi Ngidi: Set to lead the bowling attack on his return from injury, the paceman has lost time to make up for, having taken 59 wickets in his 49 previous T20 innings.
Tom Curran: The all-rounder can bat when called upon down the order but more pertinently he has already proved himself a top-class T20i bowler and he arrives fresh from England’s series win against New Zealand.
Tshwane Spartans have been frustrated by the rain so far. Their first match was abandoned before a toss was even possible, while their second ended in a no result with the Spartans reduced to 33/4 from 7.1 overs before the rain came.

Tshwane Spartans won both matches against Paarl Rocks last season. The first was a high-scoring thriller as Gihahn Cloete (80), Theunis de Bruyn (66) and AB de Villiers helped the Spartans to 203/5. In reply, Cameron Delport hit 73 at the top of the order for Paarl Rocks but some outstanding fielding in the last over by Dean Elgar and Andrew Birch’s bowling meant they came up just one run short on 202/6. The second game was lower-scoring – Lutho Sipamla taking three wickets as the Rocks were bowled out for 121 before the Spartans sealed a four-wicket win thanks to Robbie Frylinck’s well-timed late hitting.

Paarl Rocks started the tournament in good form against Cape Town Blitz and will be keen to build on that in their second game after the Spartans looked unconvincing in the 7.1 overs of play they have managed this season.
