Who will win Paarl Rocks vs Jozi Stars, MSL 2019?
Paarl Rocks welcome winless Jozi Stars to Boland Park in the Mzansi Super League, as the hosts look to beat the defending champions and get back to winning ways. The match takes place on November 22 and gets underway at 17:30 local time.
The Rocks won their opening game, bowling Cape Town Blitz out for 84 – in between the Blitz’s two wins against Jozi Stars – but they failed to defend 185/6 as they suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Tshwane Spartans last time out. James Vince had scored 86* for the hosts.
Jozi Stars are without a win this season, however – losing four from four so far. Their last two losses have been particularly poor considering their excellent form last season – bowled out for 126 against Cape Town Blitz and 108 against Nelson Mandela Bay Giants.

Rocks Team News & Playing 11
PR Team News
James Vince, who was still on England duty and so missed the first MSL 2019 game, stepped into the team last time out and delivered an excellent 86* from 53 balls. Kerwin Mungroo also stepped into the team, in place of Feresco Adams, but he was expensive and that change could be reversed.
PR Key Players
Faf du Plessis: Out for a duck last time out, but his record in all formats speaks for itself and he played a useful innings in the win against Cape Town Blitz.
Hardus Viljoen: Took two early wickets in the win against Cape Town Blitz and, while he went wicketless last time out, his 0-25 was among the more economical bowling figures.
James Vince: Fresh from England’s series win against New Zealand, during which he scored 110 runs in his four innings, he hammered an unbeaten 86 from 53 balls last time out.
PR Team Form
Paarl Rocks started with a dominant win against Cape Town Blitz – Tabraiz Shamsi, Hardus Viljoen and Bjorn Fortuin all in the wickets as, defending 170/9, they bowled the Blitz out for 84. After a washout against Durban Heat, however, they fell to defeat last time out. James Vince hit 86* from 53 balls in a total of 185/6 but the Rocks just two wickets as they fell to defeat with five balls to spare.
Rocks Predicted Playing 11
Cameron Delport, James Vince, Henry Davids, Faf du Plessis (c), Dwaine Pretorius, Hardus Viljoen, Mangaliso Mosehle (wk), Isuru Udana, Feresco Adams, Bjorn Fortuin, Tabraiz Shamsi
Jozi Stars Team News & Playing 11
JS Team News
After a miserable batting performance last time out, Jozi Stars suffered another blow when Gerald Coetzee picked up a hamstring injury. There will be more changes as a result, with Eathan Bosch pushing for a start. Duanne Olivier returned the team last time out and took a wicket, and so might retain his place this time. Sinethemba Qeshile replaced Ryan Rickleton, meanwhile, and was one of the few batsmen to reach double figures.
JS Key Players
Rassie van der Dussen: Put in two excellent performances against Paarl Rocks last season and, indeed, throughout most of the tournament and will be desperate to get back to the same brilliant form.
Kagiso Rabada: Wicketless last time out, but his bowling in the IPL earlier this year was a reminder of how crucial he can be with the ball.
Chris Gayle: Hit a four and a six but then got out cheaply again last time out. It would ease the pressure on the middle order if the West Indian legend could go deep – and when he does, the fireworks start.
JS Team Form
Jozi Stars have now lost all four matches they have played. Reeza Hendricks started in excellent batting form, but his 80 and 62 in the opening two matches could not prevent defeats to Cape Town Blitz and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants. The batting has then fallen well short in the last two games – all out for 126 in the second game against the Blitz and, last time out, carted for 108 before the Giants claimed a nine-wicket win in just 9.1 overs.
Jozi Stars Predicted Playing 11
Chris Gayle, Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Temba Bavuma (c), Dan Christian, Sinethemba Qeshile (wk), Simon Harmer, Eathan Bosch, Kagiso Rabada, Duanne Olivier, Aaron Phangiso
Rocks vs Jozi Stars Head to Head
Last year’s semi-final between these two teams fell victim to the rain, with no play possible, so this will be their first meeting since sharing a victory apiece in the group stage. Ryan Rickleton (91) and Rassie van der Dussen (78) led Jozi Stars to 209/2 and a 60-run win in the first meeting, but Faf du Plessis (61) and Grant Thomson (71*) cancelled out van der Dussen’s 83* as the Rocks hit back to won the second game.
