Pakistan and Sri Lanka, two of the better Asian teams in T20 history, are all set to face each other in yet another dead rubber of the tournament. Both have shared a similar story so far in the tournament. They have suffered comprehensive defeats to India, lost to hosts Bangladesh in close contests and faced more problems beating the UAE than expected. Both the teams, though, have put in a few uplifting performances in all of their games.
It has been two years when these two nations met in the finals of the 2014 edition of the Asia Cup where Sri Lanka emerged victorious to lift the trophy. The 10th and the final league match of this year's Asia Cup will be played today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka with live action scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM local time. This match will be an opportunity for both the teams to test their bench strength ahead of the World T20. Given the teams' batting performances, it could very well turn out to be another low-scoring contest.

They have been putting up a rather disappointing show with the bat and would like to mend their batting chinks going into their final game of the Asia Cup. None of their opening batsmen have managed more than 11 runs in the tournament. Sarfraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal have been the only bright sparks in their batting. Of the three, Sarfraz Ahmed looks to be in a better touch and can be considered for wagering money on. Against Bangladesh when wickets were falling around him, he scored an unbeaten 42-ball 58 to take Pakistan to a decent total. With the kind of form he is in, he could be promoted up the order for today's match.
Mohammad Amir's outstanding performance has been one of the few positives in their bowling. He has grabbed 7 wickets so far and that too with a healthy economy rate. He is the best Pakistan have in their bowling line-up and a great option to put a buck on. Mohammad Sami has also been amongst the wickets, though his two no-balls in the penultimate over against Bangladesh cost Pakistan the match.

Putting up totals of 129, 124 and 138 in their respective three games, Sri Lanka's batting has been no better than Pakistan's. Except for Dinesh Chandimal who scored 50 and 37 against the UAE and Bangladesh respectively, none of the top three have been able to convert the starts they got into big ones. Chandimal, with 91 runs in the tournament, is the leading run-scorer for his side and is expected to make some runs in today's match as well. Sri Lanka, however, would want their star batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan to find his lost form ahead of the big-ticket World T20.
As the batsmen look to sort themselves out, skipper Angelo Mathews will turn to his bowlers to set up the game. In Nuwan Kulasekara, Rangana Herath and Mathews himself, Sri Lanka have an experienced bowling attack. Kulasekara has taken 6 wickets and is currently the highest wicket-taker for his side. He removed both the Indian openers on Tuesday and his ability to take early wickets makes him worth a bet.
Final Prediction:
Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have won only one of their last five games in the 20-over format. With the match being a dead rubber, changes are likely to be seen in either side. Pakistan could give bowlers Mohammad Nawaz and Wahab Riaz a chance along with allrounder Imad Wasim. Sri Lanka will not want to risk Malinga's knee and could hand leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay an international debut. There isn't much to choose between the two teams. But the fact that Sri Lanka lost to Pakistan 0-2 in the most recent T20 series at home puts Pakistan marginally ahead of their opponents in today's face-off.
