Mohammad Saifuddin had injured his back during the Ireland ODI tri-series but the all-rounder has now regained complete fitness. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has failed to recover from his injury which means Abu Jayed will get to keep his place in the final CWC19 squad. Bangladesh have picked off-spinner Mosaddek Hossain and have left out batsman Mominul Haque. Liton Das has been preferred over Imrul Kayes and he is likely to open the batting with Tamim Iqbal.

Tamim is the team's leading run-getter in the 50-over format while Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah are both averaging around 35. Soumya Sarkar, who scored the most runs for Bangladesh in the Ireland tri-series, is another batsman with the potential of scoring big. Shakib, due to his match-winning all-round skills, is an asset to this team. He is arguably the best all-rounder in world cricket at the moment. While Shakib is the team's go-to spinner, Mustafizur Rahman and Mashrafe Mortaza are the major weapons in this pace bowling group. Both took six wickets apiece in the tri-series and the onus will be on them to pick up early wickets with the new ball. Mustafizur is currently Bangladesh's best ODI bowler and he is more likely to cause problems for the Pakistani batsmen.

Prior to that, they had whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0 and won the home series against West Indies 2-1 before being thrashed 0-3 in New Zealand by the hosts. Bangladesh now have four wins and three defeats in the seven one-day internationals they have played so far this year.
