Pakistan Team News & Playing 11

PAK Team News

Teenage paceman Mohammad Hasnain became the third Pakistani to make his ODI debut in this series as he replaced Mohammad Amir in the bowling attack last time out. After taking just four wickets across the two matches so far, Pakistan could make more bowling changes this time out too – Imad Wasim has been wicketless in both matches and Usman Shinwari or Junaid Khan could replace him.

PAK Key Players

Two Pakistan batsmen have hit centuries so far in this series. Haris Sohail was the first, with an unbeaten 101 from 115 balls first up to record three figures in an ODI match for the first time. He followed that up with 34 last time out.

Mohammad Rizwan followed suit last time out, in his first innings of the series, hitting 11 fours on his way to 115 from 126 balls, having pushed up the order to number four.

There is real strength in the Pakistani middle order too, with Umar Akmal scoring 48 in the first match and Shoaib Malik hitting 60 from 61 balls last time out.

The issue has been with the ball, where they have claimed just four wickets in two games. Mohammad Abbas has been tidy in his first two ODIs, while Faheem Ashraf’s wicket-taking ability was on show for all to see with his stunning form in the Pakistan Super League.

If they do tweak the line-up, meanwhile, it could mean a return for Usman Shinwari. He has 23 wickets from 12 ODIs with an economy rate of 4.96 and he claimed a four-wicket haul when he last bowled at Abu Dhabi, during the PSL.

PAK Team Form

Pakistan are staring at a second consecutive ODI series defeat, having been beaten 3-2 by South Africa last time out. Having drawn with New Zealand before that, it means they have not won an ODI series since whitewashing Zimbabwe last year.

Batting has not been too big an issue so far in this series – Haris Sohail led the way in the first match, with his unbeaten century in a total of 280/5, but Australia claimed an eight-wicket win. And it was a similar story last time out too, as Mohammad Rizwan’s 115 in a total of 284/7 ultimately counted for little as, again, Pakistan could only claim two wickets in the reply – Australia’s eight-wicket win arriving with 2.1 overs to spare.

Australia Team News & Playing 11

AUS Team News

Australia have been unchanged in the two matches so far, with Pat Cummins, Jason Behrendorff, Kane Richardson and Ashton Turner yet to feature. All will likely get their chance at some point in what is the Aussies’ final pre-World Cup ODI series, however. Cummins could be the man chosen to slot in for Jhye Richardson, who suffered a dislocated shoulder early in the second ODI.

AUS Key Players

The pressure was on Aaron Finch prior to this series but he has not let it show. He followed up his 116 from 135 balls in the first game with a blistering 153* last time out – an innings which featured 11 fours and six sixes.

Finch shared a 209-run opening partnership with in-form Usman Khawaja too, which begs the question of how David Warner will slot back into this team now his ban is over. Khawaja hit 88 from 109 balls last time out – his third 50 in his last seven games, during which time he has also hit two centuries.

Shaun Marsh, who had a couple of ODI centuries to his name last year, was back to his best with an unbeaten 91 in the first match, meanwhile. Another red-inker last time out means he is yet to be dismissed having scored 102 runs in the series.

With Jhye Richardson out injured, Pat Cummins – rested for the first two ODIs – could slot back in. He was given time off after leading the Australian pace attack against India – his 14 wickets took him to 79 in just 47 ODIs.Nathan Coulter-Nile’s four wickets so far have come at a cost, but Adam Zampa – who was Australia’s leading spinner against India – has been tidy enough. He took his 107th List A wicket in his 74th appearance last time out.

AUS Team Form

Australia have now won their last five ODIs in a row, to surge back into form in this World Cup year. Usman Khawaja led the batting as they came from 2-0 down to beat India in their previous series and captain Aaron Finch has taken over the mantle this time out.

Finch scored 116 and Shaun Marsh 91* as they chased 281 to win the first match by eight wickets, while Finch (153*) and Khawaja (88) shared 209 for the first wicket last time out to ensure the chase of 285 to win was comfortable enough – Australia again winning by eight wickets.

Australia Predicted Playing 11

Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Peter Handscomb, Alex Carey, Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa

Pakistan vs Australia Head to Head

Pakistan and Australia have met in 100 ODIs, with Australia winning 64 of those. Pakistan have 32 wins, while there has been one tie and three matches curtailed without a result.

Australia could be set for another big series win against Pakistan, after winning four of the five matches on home soil when they last met, having taken a 2-0 lead in this series. Pakistan’s lack of wickets has cost them, with Australia claiming two eight-wicket wins to take a firm grip of the series with three games still to play.

Pakistan vs Australia Betting Odds

Australia’s price has dropped slightly again after they won the first two ODIs. They are now 1.53 to win this third game with Bet365, while Pakistan have gone up to 2.50.

Aaron Finch’s form – and back-to-back centuries – have been central to their success, and he is 3.60 to be Australia’s top batsman for a third consecutive match. Usman Khawaja (4.00) is also in fine form, however. Finch is 4.50 to hit a century, for the third consecutive game, with Bet365, while Khawaja – who hit two in the series win against India – is 5.00.

You can also get 1.72 on Finch out-scoring Khawaja, and 2.00 on it going the opening way.

With Haris Sohail and Mohammad Rizwan also hitting centuries so far in this series, you can get 1.80 from Bet365 on there being a hundred scored in the match again.

Sohail is 5.00 to be Pakistan’s top batsman in this game, while Rizwan is 6.50.

With Finch and Khawaja dominating proceedings last time out, Australia are also worth backing to post the highest opening partnership – Bet365 are offering 1.72.

🏆 Pakistan vs Australia Prediction

Aaron Finch has led Australia to two wins from two so far, and their resurgent form could continue in Abu Dhabi as they look to wrap up a series win.
