Who will win Oman vs United Arab Emirates, T20 WCQ 2019?
In-form Oman will look to continue their winning streak from their recent pentangular series when they face the UAE in their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup qualifier. This Group B fixture takes place at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on October 18 and is scheduled to start at 19:30 local time.
Oman won all four matches of their warm-up tournament, the pentangular series they hosted, and will be keen to continue that form as they bid to reach the final tournament for the second consecutive time.
The UAE, meanwhile, whitewashed the Netherlands in August in their most recent T20i series and, like Oman, won both of their warm-up matches for this tournament – beating Scotland and Papua New Guinea. Their preparations have been hit by players, including former captain Mohammad Naveed, being hit my corruption charges on the eve of the tournament.

OMAN Team News
Oman’s bowling line-up was settled throughout the pentangular series, so their selection questions revolve around the batting order. Jatinder Singh’s half-century in the last warm-up match re-confirms his place, leaving two spaces for Mehran Khan, Khurran Nawaz and Sandeep Goud to fight over.
OMAN Key Players
Aamir Kaleem: Ended the Pentangular Series by claiming 5-15 from four overs in the dominant win against Nepal – the fist Oman bowler to take a five-fer in T20is. He took nine wickets in total and also scored 69 runs.
Khawar Ali: Followed up his three wickets against Ireland with a hat-trick on his way to 4-16 against the Netherlands. He has also in good bowling form during the recent ODI series in Scotland.
Zeesham Maqsood: The Oman captain took 4-7 in the win against the Dutch in Muscat and hit 39* when Oman beat Hong Kong. He averages 25.87 in T20i cricket with the bat, and 21.14 with the ball. His batting was also central to Oman’s ICC WCL Division Two success, when they earned ODI status back in April.
OMAN Team Form
Oman won all four matches in the pentangular series they hosted ahead of this tournament and also won both of their official warm-up matches too. In Muscat, their bowlers were particularly impressive as they ended the series by bowling the Netherlands out for 94 and Nepal for 64 on their way to dominant wins.
Oman Predicted Playing 11
Khawar Ali, Jatinder Singh, Aqib Ilyas, Zeeshan Maqsood (c), Aamir Kaleem, Khurram Nawaz, Sandeep Goud, Suraj Kumar (wk), Mohammad Nadeem, Fayyaz Butt, Bilal Khan

UAE Team News
Mohammad Naveed, Qadeer Ahmed and Shaiman Anwar were all dropped on the eve of the tournament and it has now emerged the three of them have been suspended by the ICC on anti-corruption charges – concerningly related to this qualifier. Naveed has been replaced as captain by Ahmed Raza, while Waheed Ahmed, Darius D’Silva and Junaid Siddique have all been called up.
UAE Key Players
Rohan Mustafa: Took eight wickets in the T20i series with the Netherlands to move to 28 wickets from as many T20i matches. He can also be a handy batsman, having scored two T20i half-centuries.
Zahoor Khan: Took seven wickets for Brampton Wolves at the Global T20 Canada in the summer and followed that with 1-26 and 2-20 in the two games against the Netherlands. He also took a useful, economical 1-28 against Papua New Guinea in the final warm-up for this tournament.
Muhammad Usman: The experienced batsman hit a half-century and showed good batting form early on in the Netherlands, and he got back to that in the warm-up match when he scored an unbeaten 60 against Papua New Guinea from just 38 balls.
UAE Team Form
To their credit, the UAE have reacted well to their off-field chaos. They won both official warm-up matches, beating Scotland and Papua New Guinea after some good batting performances to prove they can cope without their suspended trio.
They previously won all four matches of their tour of the Netherlands, against an inexperienced home line-up.
UAE Predicted Playing 11
Chirag Suri, Darius D’Silva, Muhammad Usman, Mohammad Boota, Waheed Ahmed, Rohan Mustafa, Ghulam Shabber (wk), Ahmed Raza (c), Zahoor Khan, Junaid Siddique, Imran Haider
Oman vs UAE Head to Head
The UAE have won both previous T20 internationals they have played against Oman. The most recent of those was at the 2016 Asia Cup, when Aamir Kaleem’s four-wicket haul could not prevent the UAE posting 172/6 on their way to a dominant 71-run win.
