Canada are favorites to win
Oman will take on Bahrain at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, Muscat. Match 11 of the 2022 Desert Cup Series will get underway at 16:00 local time on Sunday 20th November.
After picking up six points from their opening five games, Oman are in second place in the table, level on points with Bahrain in third place but with a far superior net-run-rate. The hosts thrashed Bahrain by 106 runs on Saturday but will need to win this game to guarantee a place in the final.
Zeeshan Maqsood became the second player in the tournament to hit a century when he struck an incredible 102 not out from 44 balls in the win over Bahrain on Saturday. Alongside Mohammad Nadeem, who has also produced with the bat, both players will be full of confidence ahead of this game.
Leg-spinner Samay Shrivastava became the first player in the competition to take a five-wicket haul when he returned figures of 5-18 in the comprehensive victory over Bahrain. Rafiullah has also taken a four-wicket haul in the Desert Cup and the Canadian batters will be wary of facing them both.
Oman are looking to register their third successive win in this game.
With four wins from five matches, Canada have been the standout side in the tournament so far. They lost their fourth game to Bahrain by eight wickets but responded well with a 45 run victory over bottom of the table Saudi Arabia on Saturday afternoon.
After dominating every bowling attack in his opening three games of the competition, Aaron Johnson has returned only one run from his last two innings. Matthew Spoors hit a run-a-ball 44 to help Canada to 171-6 which never looked like being overturned by Saudi Arabia.
Right-arm medium fast bowler Ammar Khalid has returned the top bowling figures for Canada in three of their five matches and is likely to be their main threat with the ball again. He leads the wickets list for the tournament with nine wickets at an average of 15.55.
Canada are the only team to have won over three games in the Desert Cup so far.
The match will be played at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, Muscat. This is a wicket which certainly favours the batters and we expect a par score of at least 190 in this match.

Although Canada come into this match at the top of the league, they have not yet guaranteed qualification and only beat Oman by one run earlier in the tournament. Oman will be full of confidence after their big win on Saturday but may struggle to replicate their batting against a strong Canadian bowling attack. Overall, we are backing Canada to win a close contest.
